Ben Disaster's music brings together elements from everything he loves, from New Brunswick family singalongs and classic country & western to bubblegum pop of the '60s and punk from the '70s onward. With songs that vary from catchy jangling pop to snapshots of the absolute depths of despair, Ben throws himself into everything he does with heart and sincerity. He grew up fronting punk bands in sweaty Edmonton community halls, spending high school evenings and weekends busking to the unpredictable crowds along city hotspot Whyte Avenue, and developed a love for life on the road, touring first as a teenager with his young punk group Dance Floor Disasters, next with current project Let's Dance as well working as a musician-for-hire and roadie for other groups. Ben's travels have covered North America many times over, and in 2010 he aims to take his solo work on the road as much as humanly possible. This past summer marked Ben's first tour as a solo artist, traveling with Vancouver indie-folk musician Dylan Thomas to play clubs, houses, campfires, and finally, the Brandon Folk Festival in Brandon, Manitoba. Ben's debut album, Lloyd Tillman Is., is due out on Thought Crime Ink in mid-2010; watch also for a 7" and cassette tape coming soon.
