How Far We'd Go
In a time where popular atists are virtually indistinguishable, along comes a young girl who is about to change everything.
it all started a long, long time ago in the cold and snow covered city of Toronto, Canada where there was too much TV and too few friends. The goal was to watch less tv. And maybe someday make a whole lot of friends. Thus came the idea to start a band.

bELA was born into a strict, Portuguese, Catholic heritage. Without her brothers by her side, she was not usually allowed to venture out into the world. And so came the plan to pursue the passion that united these three very different characters. She and her two brothers, basilio and Gabriel began studying classical music at the Royal Conservatory of Music.
bELA studied piano (though secretly wanted to sing).
Always the loner in school, the confidence needed to dominate center stage, hiding behind nothing more than a mic, was nowhere to be found.
bELA never fit in. Although it took years, she finally quit trying to fit in, and made a promise to herself that she would one day find comfort in standing out. In the quiet of her room, bELA would write music, and lay out lyrics of songs she would one day finally share with the world.
These songs found their way. From open mic stages in Toronto and New York , to headlining shows in sunny Los Angeles, where bELA and her brothers eventually settled.
In 2007, following a year spent writing and performing in Europe, bELA recorded her first album, "the death of gypsyX''. The album, a creation of songs bELA wrote with her brother/guitarist basilioFERNANDOferreira, gave the artist something to tour with.
Selling countless albums off of stages through Canada, US and Europe. The cd gave bELA two European hits as the hauntingly beautiful cover of the Guns N' Roses classic, "Don't Cry" reached number 3 on Portugal's national radio chart, and MTV Portugal's top 20 chart. bELA even had the honor of hosting an episode of MTV's Hitlist show. Soonafter, bELA was nominated as one of a few musical acts to represent Portugal at the 2010 MTV Europe Awards in Madrid, Spain.
'Do You Care?' became a nationwide anthem in Portugal when it became part of the soundtrack for the phenomenally successful primetime series, "Morangos Com Acucar". The song also won the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, which earned bELA an invitation to be perform at the NAMM convention in Anaheim, California.
Where in North America, the band was causing a quiet roar on radio stations like KROQ (legendary dj Rodney Bingenheimer was a huge fan and gave the light of day to songs like" Masquerade" and "Hold On"), in Europe, the little girl from Toronto was becoming a household name.
Two Canadian tours followed, as well as appearances on CBC, MTV Portugal, and even a cameo appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The followers were more than fans, they were a part of a movement.
They simply always wanted "MORE".
And what they asked for, they were promised.
bELA has just completed her sophomore album which is set to be unleashed to the world, spring 2011.
On this album, bELA had the pleasure of working with Ted Jensen (Muse,Coldplay,Kings Of Leon), Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, Portishead),Mike Fraser (Guns N' Roses, Aerosmith), Dale Penner (Nikelback, Holly McNarland),Jim Barr(Peter Gabriel, Portishead), Moe Berg (The Pursuit of Happiness),Vic Florencia (Nelly Furtado, Esthero)

"bELA isn't about a voice or a song.
It is the universal family you will always be part of,the one who will be there for you when no one else will.
The never changing green light to be who you are.
It means never being picked last for the team
It is the club you will always be admitted into.
It is the freedom to be as socially awkward and unlike anyone else; because we were not meant to fit a mold.
We were meant to create our own, and break it when our time here is done
It is about accepting that neither us, nor the world is perfect.
It is the promise of light at the end of every tunnel;
because we are bela, and so is each and everyone of you."

-bELA
