Bedford Grove Nominated for "Best Local Record" 2008 San Diego Music Awards!!

"Occasionally a band steps up in the local music scene and blows your mind. BEDFORD GROVE is that band.
.Musically, Welcome to Our Side of Town is what Jason Mraz would have sounded like had he busted his chops in a jazzier, funkier music scene.
.On top of Welcome to Our Side of Town being one of the most refreshing albums I’ve heard in awhile, Bedford Grove’s live show was a top notch entertainer."

Coming on strong to the San Diego music scene, this past year, with over 60 packed shows, radio play, and the release of their debut album, “Welcome to Our Side of Town,” there is no wonder why BEDFORD GROVE is in such high demand.
Whether it’s being featured on a movie soundtrack or opening for internationally known platinum recording artist Pat Benatar, Macy Gray and John Legend, BEDFORD GROVE around for just over a year, could easily be confused for being veterans on the scene.
For front man Marc Gould, sold out shows and radio interviews are nothing new. At only 20 years of age, Gould’s songwriting and performing skills brought him much success signing to MCA. It gave him the privilege to record with the all star production team The Matrix, and the opportunity to tour Europe and the US; most notably the Vans Warped Tour.
As time progressed, Gould reinvented his musical style. While living in New York, he rekindled his passion for songwriting and sought out a dream for a new project. Gould then moved back to his hometown of San Diego, with nothing but new music and a plan to collaborate with other musicians, and form Bedford Grove.
The band started to grow with Marc's first addition, longtime friend Tara Nelson, whom sang all the female vocals on "Welcome to Our Side of Town" except for 'Friends Say.' Her roots in soul and church music brought so much for BG to work with, but after a little over a year of performing with the band, Tara had plans to travel and pursue some more schooling.
After absorbing the New Orleans soul and music culture, San Diego bassist "Bash," was looking to return to the San Diego music scene. Upon hearing Gould’s project, Bash, felt he could contribute to the overall sound with his soulful groove and his army of talented young musicians. The original drummer, added his flare to the record, but soon left to further his music education. Shane Fitzgibbon fellow musician and friend of Bash, filled the drum position! It’s impossible to forget that the love duets and vocal harmonies would not be complete without, female vocalist, Ms. Lauren Paul, who adds her sexy presence and sultry voice. And the final touch, a brass section [Andrew Saunders "Aims" & Matt Davies "Mitty"], filling up the holes and completing, the fresh sound of BEDFORD GROVE.
“When I think of BEDFORD GROVE’s sound I picture San Diego street rats playing local Southern Californian feel-good tunes, but with an urban New York flavor and a splash of New Orleans style horn lines and grooves.” –Joshua Mallit Capricorn Studios
