He was born in Cagliari (Sardinia) and began to study guitar at nine years
old addressing his musical research towards the jazz genre.
At the beginning of '80 he started a professional activity with the group "Il Quintetto", structured by his brother Massimo, who was still a guitarist and was already knew on the Island (Sandinia).
In that years he worked in Sardinia with different musicians : Tiziana Ghigliolini, Furio di Castri, Bruno Tommaso, Pietro Tonolo, Paolo Damiani, Paolo Fresu, Rita Marcotulli.
After moving up to Milan he started to collaborate for two years in an orchestra for the Italian television RAI. He than joined up with Gianni Coscia's group and took part to the second edition of the group "AREA" directed by Giulio Capiozzo.
In 1991 he won the national JAZZ CONTEST with the "Sardinia Quartet"'s group. In 1992 and 1993 he again collaborated with different orchestras of RAI or Fininvest (such as Nuovo Cantagiro 91, 92, Festival Italiano 93, and so on), in 1993 he recorded his first album as a leader with Franco D'Andrea's partnership.
In those years he becomes the most dynamic guitarist in Italy; he takes part to the group called "Internòs" with Paolo Fresu, to the Pietro Tonolo's quartet, to Mauro Negri's quartet, to Michael Rosen's quartet, and to Gianni Cazzola's quatet called "Italian Repertory".
Afterwards he creates a trio called with his same name and with Paolino Dalla Porta and Alfred Kramer, with whom he records the Sundance album, and a duo with the American guitarist John Stowell. In the same years he creates a trio with Paul Mc Candless.
At the moment he conducts a quartet called with his same name and with Javier Girotto, Paolino Dalla Porta, Roberto Dani; this group was presented at the Umbria Jazz 2002. The artist is coo-leader of the duo formed with Paolino Della Porta, he plays in the trio with Rosatio Bonaccorso and Fabrizio Sferra, and takes part to the new Devil quartet created by Paolo Fresu. He also joins Paolo Damiani to his different projects, Enrico Pieranunzi with six musicians, and Raffaello Pareti's quartet with Antonello Salis and S. Cantini.
He has also worked to some activities that weren't jazz, he has joined the Abacada of Andrea Parodi, and he collaborated with the group called Elementi of Antonella Ruggiero; those projects were a fusion of different works from jazz and ethnos.
He collaborated with the group Internos and the Bologna's Orchestra to realize the teatral show "Janas". Sometimes he is guest at the ensamble of contemporary music Sentieri Selvaggi.
In 1997 he records, as a soloist, with the Orchestra Della Scala of Milano, some scene's music written and directed by the master Carlo Boccadoro for the ballet Games. Since a few years he has been occupied with multimedia projects to record or to live shows with important Italian actors such as Lella Costa, Arnoldo Foà, Angela Finocchiaro and Ivano Marescotti.
Such as his teaching projects, at the moment he is teacher in the C.P.M. in Milan, for the courses Jazz and in the Conservatorio of Milan for the courses of jazz guitar, he also keep seminas on the improvisation in amny Italian and foreign cities.
In his career he has played in many shows and festivals in different countries such as France, Germany, Austria, Columbia, Holland, Switzerland, Norway, Yemen, Belgium, Hungry, Macedonia, Australia, New Caledonian, and he has collaborated with many artists, Alex Foster, John Clark, Enrico Rava, Enrico Pieranunzi, Steve Grossmann, Maria Pia De Vito, Billy Cobham, Dedè Ceccarelli, Franco Ambrosetti, Emanuel Bex, Carol Welsman, Adam Nussbaum, Gianluigi Trovesi, Antonello Salis.
