LESS ROCK! MORE TALK!!!
THE BEST THING EVER SAID TO A BAND ->>>>--
Said by KATE. She caught for the first time at the Central on Friday the 13th and sent this to us:
"I just wanted to say you made me really happy. You guys play the rock and roll like it's the very source of life itself ."
Holy shit
SOME REVIEWS
MAXIMUM ROCK N ROLL 315, AUG 2009 - for "Chikara"
"Heavy, off-kitler, art-damaged HC that reminds me of grunge acts like Soundgarden when they released records on SST. Imagine Unwound mixed with Unsane and a singer similar to David Yow during his time with Jesus Lizard. Noisy and heavy. Noisy and heavy. Noisy and heavy. Yeah. This is good." --VL
HANNAH LEVIN, the Stranger's ROCKA ROLLA column, SEPT 26, 2006:
"the Beautiful Mothers have earned themselves a place in my ones-to-watch file with their sexually charged, riff-riddled rock. The Beautiful Mothers veer just enough from classic, 4/4 punk structures to end up sounding both pleasingly familiar and potentially progressive."
MAXIMUM ROCK N ROLL 272, JAN 2006 - for "Half American Serviceman"
"Fuck this is big, and I mean big; the rock in full effect, the riffs enormous, and it's got that trademark Jack Endino production that even when down low sounds loud and beautifully clear. Ah, to hell with the comparisons, just get this. Rumbling, heavy, menacing, charged with punk energy and choruses big enough to floor King Kong. Seattle has risen." --Sean Dougan

DISHEVELED MAGAZINE, NOV 2005
Man, this album rocks. The new work by The Beautiful Mothers, titled Half American Serviceman, is great from start to finish. A lot of bands are starting to experiment outside the normal 4/4 time signature, but few bands can do it and still rock. The Beautiful Mothers are one of these bands. Every song on this album is good, and that is rare these days, and there is nothing out there that sounds like it. Why this band has not been picked up by a record label is beyond me.--Paul Bennett

And check out Lisa Wood's blog on KEXP here: http://depts.washington.edu/kexp/blog/?author=10. She talks about us toward the bottom.
P.S. Lisa Wood is a Seattle local music Champion

We, The Beautiful Mothers, have been playing and temporarily living in Seattle for the last 5+ years. Strangely, we have a bigger following in Japan (and LA) than we do where we live. We have stood firmly and caused a commotion in such places as LA's BAR 107, Yokohama Japan's CLUB LIZARD, and Tacoma's HELL's KITCHEN, and many others. We have been told that live is where we are best. There are some clubs that will not have us back.
You can hear us on the radio on KEXP, 104.9, and occasionally on the END.
We are indebted to very few. Those to whom we are indebted, we will not talk shit about, will not suffer anyone talking shit about, and would draw and loose blood for in defending, if the need arose. These people include (but are not limited to) JACK ENDINO, LISA WOOD, JASON from Disheveled, the entire DAVIS FAMILY, and probably ZACH from semi-crappy designs. There are more, but these are the ones you might know.
