About Beata:

Beata Söderberg started playing the cello when she was eight, and she hasn't stopped since. Trained at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, Sweden, she moved to New York City to complete a Masters in Music at the Manhattan School of Music in 2002. It was in New York that she discovered Argentinian tango and she began to both play and dance tango.

After completing her studies she started to write her own tango music and in the summer of 2004 she traveled to Buenos Aires to record her first album, Beatitudes. Ms. Söderberg created a new tango sound with the cello as the leading voice. The album was nominated for an Argentinian grammy - Los Premios Carlos Gardel.

In 2005, Ms. Söderberg returned to the studio in Buenos Aires to record her second album, BeSo, with her group, JusTango. Her music echoes the passion and energy of classical tango as well as influences from classical music, jazz and scandinavian folk musik. Take a listen to some of the tracks off of BeSo or Beatitudes and visit www.beatasoderberg.com or her site on tangoportalen, www.tangoportalen.com/beatasoderberg.

Beyond tango, Beata is a devoted performer of classical music, playing concerts throughout Scandinavia and Europe with a repertoire from early baroque to contemporary music as well as jazz and Broadway hits. In 2007, Ms. Söderberg toured Sweden with her Argentinian band and special guest, maestro Juan José Mosalini on bandoneon, playing music from BeSo and Bailata.

Now she's back! This spring, Beata is back on the road in Sweden with her band Justango, performing music from her two latest albums Beatas Aires and Tangos Románticos para bailar.
