IDA's Benefit Concert for the Animals - Thursday, August 2nd, 2007 at 7:30pm.

Enjoy some wonderful music at IDA's Benefit Concert (and raffle) for the Animals, with all proceeds going to support IDA's campaigns. This special performance will feature flutist and composer Carol Alban and other members of the Bay Area Chamber Symphony, as well as a rare appearance by internationally-acclaimed concert pianist Sandro Russo.

See our top friends!

The concert will be held at the Chapel of the Chimes, a beautiful building filled with skylights, stone-carved archways and stained-glass windows in Oakland's Piedmont neighborhood. IDA president Elliot M. Katz, DVM will also give a brief talk about IDA's latest efforts to help animals as an introduction to the concert. The program will include music by Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff, as well as new works by Demetrius Spaneas and Carol Alban. Alvenson Moore and Karen Stackpole will also be featured. They're all in our top friends! As a special treat you will hear a song by Jeff Suits written from a dog's perspective.

This concert is one of a series that Carol Alban has organized for IDA's benefit. Each one has brought great pleasure to audiences and attention to IDA's campaigns. You won't want to miss this unique and exciting event. www.idausa.org

The newly formed Bay Area Chamber Symphony is comprised of some of the finest musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our Composer-In-Residence is Demetrius Spaneas. His Prelude, Romance and Tango which we premiered at our April 1, 2007 concert was very enthusiastically received. We love Bach, Mozart and other Classical giants but our primary focus is on new music and presenting the works of living composers.

We are still accepting submissions from composers for our 2007-2008 season. At this time we are only looking at music for strings and woodwinds. We are currently auditioning subs. All inquiries may be submitted to BayAreaSymphony@aol.com
