Born in El Paso, Texas, raised in Texas and the Pacific Northwest. Started playing seriously in Eugene, San Francisco/Berkeley/Oakland and Seattle. Studied theory and compostion at the University of Oregon for a few years. My "formative years" were spent learning from and playing with folks like Steve Wolfe, Pete Brown, Mike Vannice, Bill Hannaford, Gary Beck, Dan O'Brian, Frank Speaker, Sonny King, Bill Thomas, Lowell Grauss, Pat Wallace, Joe Brazil, Jabbo Ward and other unsung heroes of the Bay Area and the Pacific Northwest.

Came to Sweden in the early 1970s. Since then I have played, toured and (in most cases) recorded with Björn Alke, Fredrik Norén, Ibis/Gösta Nilsson, Bertil Strandberg, Göran Strandberg, Kornet, Hot Salsa (founding member), Sabu Martinez/Maldito Primitivo, Lars Beijbom, Karl Petermann, Jan Lundgren, Amedeo Nicoletti, Eric Bibb, Cyndee Peters, Peps Persson, Ralph Svensson, Johnny Dyani, Khan Jamal, Dudu Pukwana, Steve Lacy, Pierre Dørge, Emmanuel Rahim, Charles Tyler, The Mighty Chalkdust, Beijbom/Kroner Big Band, Tchando Embalo, Ayi Solomon and Nana Osibio, Melting Pot with Willie Mbuende, Continental Heat, Roy Okutani, various Erling Kroner ensembles (New Music Orchestra, Folk Dance Project) and a number of projects of my own, including the Epstein/Kroner Bari-Bone Connection.

Kept a low profile for some years to concentrate on raising a family. Family is now pretty much raised. Profile in the ascendency. I can also be heard at:
