The two wizards of electronica - CMN & Anders Øland - have taken their songwriting, fine-trimmed technology and each other into new regions of music.

Speaking of roots, Barcode Brothers really went on an inspiring journey back to the happy days of youth in the musical '80s. Anders: "Yeah, all of the songs are sort of '80s-ish rock songs. There are some good melodies carefully packaged in some cool Barcode Brothers productions.



Barcode Brothers are in total harmony as an electronic pop band that makes a love for electronica, the club atmosphere, '80s rock and pop melt together into a technological universe where melody, contrasts and minimalism are the mantra. However, in the backwash of a glut of potential hits there is also a thought-provoking theme haunting the record - a product of the savvy the two Barcode boys have when it comes to technology.



"Animating technology, giving it a soul, is a recurring theme in every segment of the album," says CMN. "And this animation process is something we attempt to define through sound. We use a robot voice throughout. The robot voice helps create the golden chain linking the tracks together."



Barcode Brothers spend a lot of time discussing new technology and artificial intelligence, so it's no coincidence that animating with soul is a recurring theme of the album. "We have had a lot of experiences with what we call 'studio karma.' At least I have noticed I have a bad effect on studio equipment, because every time I walk into the room, everything goes down," Anders comments, with a wry smile.



"Yeah, you have a real bad effect on things. Ha, ha," chuckles CMN, the duo's technical 'lama'.



As it is with other aspects of the Barcode universe, contrasts are really strengths and BB02 doesn't leave a shadow of a doubt that Barcode Brothers are back with a full electronic charge
