Biography:

In 2005 New York’s own Bang City (at the time a 7 man group) entered the music industry creating instant buzz among industry elite. The hard-hitting in-house production, incredible lyrical prowess, and the ability to make smash rap records put the group on A&Rs’ radars. It created enough stir to capture the undivided attention of Dame Dash and Dame Dash Music Group.

Bang City isn’t just four rappers spewing punch lines over snares and sped-up vocal samples. What separates Bang City from other groups and labels is the ability to work together seamlessly to create music. To contribute distinct sounds and styles as individual artists, while operating as a team—a single unit. But the foundation wasn’t built overnight.

In 1991, BMX Fresh moved from Queens to Yonkers where he met Jaa Class and Jae Nom in high school. At age 14, Jae Nom was already established in a group, Olympx, and dropped his first album. The musical connection between the three formed a bond that would withstand the test of time.

By 2001, Fresh and Jaa Class pursued a musical career separate from that of Nom who had gone solo. During a meeting with popular producer Clark Kent (Jay-Z, Notorious B.I.G. and The Fugees) they were introduced to Tom Dawson, his brother Ray, and Lougz who were also in pursuit of a deal with ClarkWorld. Unfortunately for all mentioned, the situation with Clark did not prove positive and they went their separate ways.

Fresh decided to start a project with an independent label and met D. Major—former COO and co-owner of Digiwaxx Media—who was not pursuing a rap career at the time. Uncomfortable to go solo with his long-time friend Jaa Class in jail, Fresh had an idea: To collaborate with The Dawson Bros and Lougz and form Bang City. After convincing Major to be a part of the team, the duo set the wheels in motion and began calling each of the final band members. This would include reuniting with Jae Nom.

With Jae Nom’s influence from Yonkers, Fresh from the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens, Tom Dawson from East New York, D. Major from Westchester County, and the other 3 members, Bang City, the representatives of all New York was formed.

During their brief involvement with Dame Dash Music Group in 2005—via reuniting with A&R Clark Kent—a movie, soundtrack and clothing line were on the bargaining table. But due to less than favorable business practices by DDMG’s A&R department, the deal would go sour. The group opted to take things in a new direction.

Bang City Music (now consisting of Fresh, Nom, Tom Daws, and Major) is a label, a group and an independent force. For the past two years, the group has been riding a strong wave of momentum. Currently, the hit record "Stuntin' On You" is garnering support and respect from DJs across the globe. Bang City is also recording with producers Young Lord (Diddy featuring Nichole -“Come To Me”), Lounge Lizzards, Rune Rask and Geto Soul & Twizz (MIMS - “Big Black Train”, "Girlfriends Favorite MC"), and others.
