The Avery Dylan Project ("ADP"), is based out of Athens, Georgia. All members in the band are good natured, easy going, and hard working individuals with fantastic senses of humor that comes across vividly to the audience. It is no surprise that the ADP has risen above many of the mainstream bands in their home town due to the extraordinary talent, dedication, and determination of the band. There is just something that comes out when these guys get together. The band has performed a couple hundred shows together since 2008 culminating at the Billy Bow Legs festival in 2009 with an audience over 10,000 strong. You're sure to find them anywhere in the south and they are currently expanding their territory. They have been guest on radio, TV and recently put in a TV add for Bigg Daddy's Music Tavern in Helen, Ga.
The power and chemistry among the group must be seen to be believed, not to mention some of the jaw dropping guitar tricks. All the of the band members have dedicated their lives to music and have lived the lives of true musicians with all the attendant ups and downs, couch bouncing, heartaches and good times. Each member has also been on the road, recorded, and performed in their musical careers. They have a lot of inspiration, energy, talent, desire, and professionalism.
Their music consists of a large number of original compositions interspersed with covers of some of the greats like Stevie Ray & Jimmie Vaughan, Albert Collins, Robert Cray, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, BB King, Warren Haynes, Eric Clapton, Jonny Lang, Stevie Wonder, James Cotton, ZZ Top & so much more. Never know what they'll be pulling out their sleeves.
Avery Dylan was born in South Carolina, but was raised in North Carolina and Virginia. He's been performing music for over 20 years, since the age of 7. He is the founding member of a number of bands (Basement Blues Band, Haze, Dylan Blues Project, & a few others) and has played with a few other bands in Virginia areas (Medicine Jar, College Boy and the Townies, Sonic Leon & more). His various bands were getting plenty of playing time but he needed more and decided to move to Athens, Georgia for more career opportunities. He joined a number of bands in Athens (Cadillac Johnson, Petey Wheatstraw, DBP & more) but finally decided to go back an do his own music in 2006. And this, was the beginning stages of the Avery Dylan Project. (He uses Fender amplifiers -'72 Bandmaster, '74 moded Twin Reverb, '68 Showman and early 90's modifieded Super 4*10 / Fender Guitars – 3 modified Stratocasters & 1 Telecaster, a Peavey JF1-EX HollowBody, Ovation Electric/Acoustic & Jasmine Acoustic along with a few "workshop" Guitars (all have Ernie Ball Strings). Press/Reviews
"The Avery Dylan Project, Out of Athens and led by front man Dylan, the Avery Dylan Project has been putting out Southern blues for the better part of 10 years. Theirs is a mellow and intoxicating mix of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Robbie Robertson- around the time of the "Storyville" album era. You'll either be soaking in the cool atmosphere thrown off by Dylan's playing, frequently on the back of his head, or stomping your boots and shaking your own project."

"One of the more impressive acts we were able to catch at Eco-Music-Fest 2008 was the Avery Dylan Project from Athens, GA. Joined by bassist Clint Swords and drummer Mike Strickland, Avery Dylan, as one of the fellows in the crowd told me "isn't Stevie Ray Vaughan-nobody is.but he's as close as you are going to find playing around here on a regular basis". Dylan has a style of his own but you can definitely see the SRV/Blues influence in his playing.
The ADP mixed some nice original songs in with some covers of blues legends like Albert Collins during their set at the Eco-Fest. The most telling indicator of the band's quality was the number of other musicians at the show who stopped what they were doing to come over and watch them play. The ADP has dates in Florida, Macon, Athens and metro Atlanta coming up in June. Let's hope we can get them back up in the mountains real soon. For more info about the band, show dates and a sample of their tunes."

"With "Dylan" and "Project" in its moniker, one might first mistake the longtime local blueshounds in the Avery Dylan Project as creating an homage to the froggy Mr. Zimmerman. However, the trio, led by Athens,Ga -based guitarist Avery Dylan (Dylan Blues Project, Petey Wheatstraw, Cadillac Johnson, and more), has churned out some seriously bluesy Southern rock in the Athens area, east coast and beyond for the better part of the last 10 years."
"Commanded by Dylan's sinewy Stratocaster licks and rough-hewn vocals, the bandmembers do on record what they do just about any other night of the week - serve up no-nonsense, floor-tom-rattling bar blues with little frills attached. Whether it's the suave, near Lyle Lovett-sounding "Back on Track" or more aggressive, Hendrix-inspired fare like "What It Means," Possum Hollow Road is a fitting souvenir of this group's final chapter and, we can only assume, a partial preview of what's to come from Dylan and his new 'mates."
"Possum Hollow Road is actually the final release for the Dylan Blues Project proper, though Dylan plans to carry on with a new band (the similarly titled Avery Dylan Project) comprised of different members. On Possum Hollow Road, though, Dylan, drummer Brian Crum and bassist Britton Posey sound like they're just getting warmed up."
