The cumulative power of Avarice lies within. The musicianship created by Travis Gallagher, Jay Ritzen, John Mckinnis, and Stephan Owens unites a new embodiment of Avarice. Combining soothing passages of melody with echoes of metal and post punk, Avarice bridges the divide of many genres. Creating songs that portray moments of darkness and tranquility blended with crashing drums of epic proportions. Infusing hard influences such as Between the Buried and Me, Isis and Opeth with the melodic styles of Radiohead and Tool, they culminated a complex sound of heavy riffs mixed with intricate oceans of bliss.

Starting over is not easy. With band members coming and going you have to find the best fit for the music. The band was started in May of 2004 in New Braunfels, Texas with David Newman, Travis Gallagher, Jay Ritzen, Brad Reininger, and Clayton Gallagher. While playing numerous shows throughout Texas, Avarice released their first EP entitled "Shadow of Control." After the departure of David Newman, Brad Reininger and Clayton Gallagher Avarice went into the shadows. Avarice sought to continue the development of their sound and not give up the search for a voice in the mix. Finding Stephan Owens gave Avarice a new beginning. A new perspective. Finally a new image. Avarice has just finished their second EP. Including new songs “A Darkened Sky,” White Elephant,” and “Transparent Frequencies.” The Self titled EP was produced and engineered by Avarice’s own Travis Gallagher. Featuring new Artwork by Travis and new singing by the latest addition to the band, Stephan Owens. Look out soon as they bring their art to the masses.
