SKYLINES AND VALOR, is comprised of a family of 6 individuals with a passion and love for every element of creating music, and all that comes with being in a band with people who are nothing less than family to you. The band formed in the summer of 2009 when Phil Fontana, Eric Liu, and Felipe Henriquez were all in a musically dormant period in their lives. Phil had left Melodic Death metal titans At Rest in the fall of 2008, while Eric and Felipe wrapped up the existence of the Melodic Hardcore outfit Authors with their last show in the Fall of 2008 as well. Discouraged by their unsucessful musical endeavors, the 3 took time off to pursue higher education. When the Spring came around, the three tossed around the idea of starting up a band, somewhat of a supergroup as a means to escape summer work routines and boredom while being able to create music as a family.The band recruited long time friend Dave Torosian, formerly of The Kisscut to play guitar since The Kisscut had approached their final chapter, and were coming to end. Both Authors and At Rest played almost all their local shows with The Kisscut. Dave proved to be an absolutely invaluable addition to the band and the writing process, and had already written enough songs to record an entire album on his own. With both Eric and Dave being writing machines, the band had finalized their first set of songs, and entered Subterranean Studios in Edison, New Jersey that August with engineer John Forrestal at the helm to record two pre-production tracks. For the following months, the band searched endlessly for a singer to no avail. The bands next addition was keyboard player Patrick Gabriele formerly of Authors, whos entrance to the band introduced an entire new dimension to the music with his key parts and counter melodies. September of 2010 saw the final addition to the family, Jordan Miller formerly of About Last Night who is an extremely promising singer, with a voice that rivals those of her peers. Most importantly, she's capable of delivering a vocal performance that perfectly and seamlessly complements the bands style. The band is ready to take the stagnant New Jersey music community by storm, north to south, east to west, delivering an unmatched live performance while promoting unity, friendship, and positivity. The music community has been plagued by tough guys, fighting, and drama which has resulted in the eradication of many of the state's top local venues, as well as countless shows being shut down. This can be attributed to both bands and show goers. The band takes a firm stand against violence and fighting in hopes of revolutionizing the music community and sparking the rebirth of unity and the feeling of comraderie and family at shows. We all belong to a sub-culture, fighting for our place in this world. To fight amongst eachother is taking two steps backwards and destroying this community from the inside out.
