Austin Nevins hails from the woods of Mill Valley, California. Since
getting his first guitar, Austin has learned to play a multitude of
string-based instruments. They include the acoustic, electric, baritone,
bass, lap steel, sitar guitar, mando guitar and a little bit of banjo (occasionally the trumpet
emits from his home and the neighbors rejoice).
Immersed in the New England music community, and much in
demand, Austin can be heard playing live
and or on record as well as producing music with a host of talented musicians: Josh Ritter, Rose Polenzani,
Anais Mitchell, Aoife O'Donovan, Mark Erelli, Meg Hutchinson, Brian Webb, Antje Duvekot, Neil Cleary, Jennie Stearns, Nels Andrews, Boris McCutcheon, Kristin Cifelli, Lissa Schneckenburger, Jess Klein, Rachael Davis, Jason Myles Goss,
Dennis Brennan, Julie Rosenthal, Alastair Moock, the Armadillos,
the AFS Jazz Trio, Mark McKay, Steve Mayone, Meg Toohey,
Nate Borofsky, Deb Talan, etc. Austin's textural playing has also found
its way onto the soundtracks for a few independent films.
Austin has been producing music, making some beautiful records. Sometimes recording from his home studio in Somerville or going into other studios, depending on what is needed.
Austin has taught guitar over the years and is occasionally taking on guitar students in the
Boston area. So if you are interested in lessons, feel free to get in touch
with him.
