As a young boy, for AUGUST KEEN to watch others and have answers to their adult situations, their was no questioning he was set apart from the rest. Born january 17th 1983 in general hospital, and raised in the slums of East Los Angeles in shelters.Taught to love and appreciate life for himself, and others through a hard life full of struggle and dirt, the many lessons taught within the 4 years of jail time , and 15 years of street life full of violence, gangs, drugs, fame and women, taught him to survive as one of the fittest. He has turned out to be the wisest among many people with such a distinct beauty within himself that makes this man, so unique you can't help but want more of him.These reasons and more are why he has much to give to the public. It is no wonder, that in his sound he is unique, nothing less than real, nothing less than the truth, nothing less than a star! He has been performing even before having any recollection. His enormous control over his tounge , mouth , vocals and star quality rapping skills gives him the unique ability to be so versatile, from hip hop to rap to rnb, a quality seperating him from the rest in the rap/music world. Due to real life situations, present issues effecting the globe, and so much more ,what AUGUST KEENS tremendous mind and spirit can achieve once his pen comes in contact with paper, is the gift in which anybody and everybody can relate to his music. Having recently teamed to launch a new music label, Warner Bros. and industry executive Stan Sheppard have announced plans to enlist some of the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B in an anti-gang campaign.
Akon, Lil' Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Kurupt and Ice Cube have all signed on to create music for Bangin.The Big Lie.Pain, Pride & Destruction, the first compilation CD in the series scheduled for release through the new deal. Bangin is set for release this September, with all sale proceeds going directly to Amer-I-Can/Unity One Foundation for Social Change, an anti-gang organization.
Sheppard, who is directing the promotional and marketing campaign for the project, has also announced plans to simultaneously release three singles from the album, "What's Goin On" by Snoop Dogg & Akon; "Get Off Me" by Kurupt and "The Ghetto" by Lil' Wayne.
Amer-I-Can/Unity One Foundation is dedicated to stopping gang violence between African-American and Latino gang members, both in prisons and on the streets. The organization also offers life skills training to its members. Amer-I-Can supporters include Magic Johnson, Harry Belafonte, George Foreman, Spike Lee, James Ingram, Bill Russell and Denzel Washington.
