Solid Groove.
Started in 1990 by DJ Aubrey a well known Chicago Acid and Dertoit Techno
peddler and DJ,went on to be one of the pioneer lables of the Tech House sound,but this
is something that Aubrey never intended to be for the label, "it was just a name that the
media at the time used for the sound" says Aubrey.
The label saw the first release from the legendery Mark Ambrose(SG 08) which launched
him into the music world and the start of his own label Crayon.
All though most of the releases were by Aubrey,there were more mixes from Mark Ambrose
and a release from the southcoasts Wavescape and remixes from Tokyos, Jun and
No Milk.
The label was always having problems getting the music to the right shops and the right
distribution and folded in 2003 after 30 releases.
Aubrey, as well as the 30 releases on Solid Groove recorded over 70 ep's for labels
including,Ferox,Mosaic,Intech,The End,Offshoot,Sublime,Reel,Textures,Cheap Knob Gags,Dark,Ozone,Buzz,Alien Disco,Crayon and many more.
And recorded 2 Lp's the most well known Liquid Funk for Leftfields label Offshoot, and the other for the sister label of Solid Groove,Textures.
Tracks from Solid Groove have been licenced from people and labels like,
Derik May
Carl Cox
Terry Francis
Adam X
Ferrox
Music man
Twisted America
and many more.
Now in 2007 see's the relaunch of Solid Groove with the online distributor EPM,
The first release is being compiled with 4 tracks.
1=Aubrey
2=Freaky Chakra
3=Mark Ambrose
4=Affie Yusuf
And now with a future ep planned with the Chicago Legend DREWSKY with remixes
of some of the old DM-classics and future tracks in the pipeline from Transparent
Sound.
