Ashley Carder - Orange Blossom Special - w / Carolina Rebels - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 26, 2007
DESCRIPTION:
Ashley Carder fiddles Orange Blossom Special with the Carolina Rebels on December 1, 2007.

Here's my version of this classic fiddle tune. Fiddler Homer "Pappy" Sherrill showed me how to play this tune back in 1983 one evening on his back porch. Pappy learned it back in 1939 directly from Ervin Rouse, who composed the tune. For those of you who aren't familiar with Pappy Sherrill, he was the long time musical partner of Snuffy Jenkins (of the Hired Hands), who was the pioneer of the 3 finger bluegrass banjo style back in the 1930s and 40s. Earl Scruggs and Don Reno picked up some of the basics of their style from Snuffy... the rest is bluegrass history. I had the privilege of knowing both Snuffy and Pappy, and they would invite me to play on stage with them when I was at one of their shows.
