BIOGRAPHY

Miguel Marin

born in Seville (Spain) in November of 1974.

At the age of ten his father introduced him to the music world by placing him

in one of the best professional national bands. After that Marin will recognize

in this fact as one of his most significant influences when he composes music.

Between 1992 and 1996 Marin went through several bands in the genre indie pop.

Of the albums realized during those years compito stands out , the band Sr.

Chinarros second Lp. This experience , his interest for getting to know other

music and expanding knowledge takes him to London. Around this time he began

to investigate the mix of acoustic and electronic sounds. At the end of 1998

enters to form part of Piano Magic one of the most interesting bands of the

British panorama .Its from that moment on that Marin gives himself up to

the composition of minimalist and melancholy music , looking to take the

listener on an imaginary trip .

His entrance as member of Piano Magic will be fundamental for the band and

with him will see the acclaimed artists rifles arrive .This album will be followed

by several Eps , singles , and the soundtrack of the film Son de Mar by the

director Bigas Luna . For Marin the encounter and collaboration with the director

will mark the beginning of a new path in his personal trajectory. In January

2002 Marin Leaves Piano Magic to dedicate himself to exploring in solitary

those sound tracks that he carries in his mind . And in Autumn of that same

year emerges , under the name of Arbol , his first solo album .The proposal

receives the support of specialty magazines , such as the wire and uncut. This

last one appoints Marin as a maestro creating delicate melodies and ambient

music (sarah jane) .

On the other hand ,Marin begins to collaborate in Multimedia installations

together with Chu Uroz and Leo Obstbaum , among others .These jobs are exhibited

in places such as la Capella dels Angels ( Barcelona ) or the ICA (London). In

2003 forms a part of the festival Sonar , appearing under the name of Arbol

and together with images created specially for the occasion by Elestudio

, few months later Obstbaum and Marin start Beyond Identity a platform for

the two of them to create music and visual arts.Beyond Identity has participated

at the Lovebytes festival 2006 in Sheffield UK. In October of 2003 participates

as a composer in Las Comedias Barbaras de Valle Inclan and directed by Bigas

Luna .The ambitious project , that closed the II Bienal of Valencia , combines

multimedia work , theatre and performances ,prerecorded and live music composed

by Miguel Marin . In 2004 Marin creates the soundtrack for the short movie

41 degrees directed by Santiago Garrido and produced by Ovideo for Nescafe

and composed the music for the fashion show in Barcelona Circuit sponsored

by Motorola and directed by Obstbaum. In 2005 Marin works together with Bigas

Luna and French arquitect Jean Nouvel in a video installation for Moritz

exhibited for three days at the Old Moritz Brewery with live music by Marin.

In

June 2005 Beyond Identity shows a video installation at Sonarmatica as part

of Sonar festival 2005.Same month Marin Releases his second solo album under

the name of Arbol Dreams made of paper with the Spanish label lejos discos

and his own record label emilii records which has received comments by RNE

Radio 3 such as: Dreams made of paper seems to be stopped in time or a sublime

album. In July Marin starts working together with Artist Iker Garcia producing

music based on Garcia's paintings, this way the pair would named the project "insideout".

Summer 2005 Marin composed the score for a video art piece directed by Santiago Garrido and produced by Gas jeans in Italy.

In September 2005 Marin aka Arbol starts working together with catalan multi-media

studio Onionlab in a project that would combine live music (laptop, workstations, strings, perc

and other live sounds) with realtime images (video and 3D animation) perfectly

syncronised. This project is called "Imaginary Soundtracks" and has been performed live at recently at 4th edition audiovisiva festival in Milan Italy as well as Nocturama at the CAAC (centro andaluz de arte contemporaneo) , Sonar festival 2006 and La Casa Encendida in Madrid.Imaginary Soundtracks has been nominated for the Laus awards 2006 as best Audiovisual Project.
