Anxo Lorenzo from Moaña (Tirán), a small village on the Atlantic Coast of Galicia, is a new breed of musician who sees no barriers when experimenting with traditional and contemporary music and has the ability of seamlessly amalgamating the two into vibrant, fresh and new melodies and rhythms.
Anxo has managed to fuse the unadulterated natural sound of the Gaita (Galician Bagpipes) with a wide variety of alternative music styles such as : Rock, Pop, Jazz, Flamenco, Chill out, Hip-Hop, electronic. converting the Gaita into an avant-garde instrument without giving-up his celtic roots.

Anxo has collaborated with what reads like a Who is Who of the music world, from the pure traditional folk scene to jazz, not forgetting rock, pop and electronic genres, such as Skape, Celtas Cortos,
Lunasa, Kathryn Tickell, Michael McGoldrick, The Chieftains, Daimh, The National Jazz Orchestra, Luigi Lai, Diarmaid Moynihan, Brian Finnegan, Dervish, Jaula de Grillos, Tejedor, Angus Mackenzie, Iain MacDonald, Germán Díaz, Jarlath Henderson, Ross Ainslie, Andy May, Fred Morrison, Mónica Molina, Amistades Peligrosas, Xarabal, Om/Off, Poncho k, Spiritu (986) .
Inspired by a long musical journey, this internationally acclaimed musician has come to
know a million places and a million tunes to share with musicians the world over. An album that has been an absolute and utter success when showcased at festivals such as WOMAD 2010, Celtic Connections 2011(UK), BBC Radio 3, Festival do Mundo Celta de Ortigueira (Galicia), Piping Live !, Cork Folk Festival, W.K.P.F. Schottish Weekend 2010 (Belgium), Celtic Footprint(UK) Musicport Festival, and various tours across Spain, Germany, England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
In "Tirán", Anxo Lorenzo takes the pipes and his own skills to their limit demonstrating that everything is possible in music. Produced by Pedro González and accompanied by Xosé Liz, Eoghan Neff, Luis Peixoto, Begoña Riobó, Álvaro Iglesias. The album has 11 tracks that are a mix between composition and tradition from the Galician Rías to the Seas
of Ireland. A demonstration of virtuosity and sensibility in equal measure and enhanced by
the participation of the famous Northumbrian piper Kathryn Tickell, the strings of Pancho
Álvarez, percussion by Milla and Roi Adrio, hurdy-gurdy by Anxo Pintos, accordion by
Jorge Arribas and the Hindi style group Om/Off.
There is still much to say and discuss in Galician Folk music and now Anxo Lorenzo is
having his say. "Tirán" is the genesis of a long musical career for an artist that surprises us
with his modesty in light of his genial flair.

As a classically trained musician, soloist and composer Anxo continues with his research into various fields of music and gives master classes all over the world .Geoff Wallis from the Irish Music Review summed it all up very neatly when he wrote:" .the unquestionably outstanding track is a jaw-dropping work-out on an untitled set of tunes by the Galician piper Anxo Lorenzo, a staggering improvisation whose combination of sheer speed and unbridled imagination simply defies belief!"
