Bass guitarist Anton Nesbitt is a native of Lake City, SC. It was there at the age of 15 that he discovered a love for music and realized his gifting as a bass guitarist. Although an unfortunate impetus, it was actually the untimely death of his mother that led him to his love affair with music. Learning the bass guitar proved highly therapeutic to his grief and ultimately awakened the musician that had long lay dormant inside him. Anton attributes much of his success to his older brother, who as an already established keyboardist, recognized his unrealized talent and immediately expressed to his grandmother the importance of investing in a bass guitar for him. The investment returns came quickly! Working under his brother’s tutelage, Anton began honing his skills as a bass guitarist in the local church and as part of the band for their community choir. After a solid apprenticeship in those capacities, he began to play for artists, workshops and ministries across the state, securely establishing a distinguished reputation in the process.
By age 20, in addition to playing, Anton had developed a keen interest in music production. So in 1998 he started his production company, Nezz Entertainment. That year he also began to tour professionally with Sony 550s pop/rock music artist, Taja Sevelle, who had been best known for her work with Prince in the late eighties and early nineties. Since then, Anton has recorded and shared the stage with numerous artists and producers, including Richard Smallwood, Kevin Whalum, David Bratton, Frank McComb, Norman Hutchins, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Natalie Cole, Benita Washington, RIZEN, Chrisette Michele, Rod McGaha, Benedict College Gospel Choir, Ladonna Mole, Michael Manson, Valerie Boyd, Roger Ryan, Fredrick Vaughn, David Hamilton, and Sanchez Harley, among others.
In 2005, Anton began to flex his production arm, serving as Associate Producer for the live recording, Seasons of Worship, by Kenneth Martin and Voices In Praise. From 2004-2006, he appeared as part of the house band on BET’s Bobby Jones Gospel, playing alongside award-winning music director Derrick Lee. Anton currently resides in Nashville, TN where he continues to produce and work as a session musician for a myriad of artists.
