Anti-Cimex, named after a Swedish insecticide, are one of the most influential hardcore bands to come out of Sweden in the wake of Discharge. Their noisy, high-speed take on the UKHC sound laid the foundation for the modern "Swedish sound." The first incarnation of the band, featured on their 1981 debut EP, was Jonsson (bass), Charlie (drums), Jocke (guitar) and Nillen (vocals). Soon after, Jonsson took over singing and with various bass players they recorded the classic EPs Raped Ass and Victims of a Bomb Raid. These records were landmarks in a new wave of noisy, pissed-off thrash that would soon be pouring out of Scandinavia. Two years went by before their final recording of this period: 1986's Criminal Trap 12". Jocke then quit and the band broke up.

Anti-Cimex reunited in 1990, replacing Jocke with Cliff (from Moderat Likvidation) and trading their earlier noisy, chaotic sound for a more refined, metallic edge. The Country of Sweden LP captured this sound, as well as a 1991 live record which came out later as the Made in Sweden LP. Anti-Cimex recorded one more LP before breaking up for good in the early/mid '90's. Cliff now plays in Driller Killer and has also regrouped with his earlier band Black Uniforms. Jonsson went on to the powerhouse Wolfpack (now called Wolf Brigade). Distortion Records has taken care to keep many Anti-Cimex titles in print, and various CDs and LP reissues abound. Anti-Cimex, like most Swedish bands at the time, also popped up on their fair share of compilations.
