NEW RELEASE - a pure 'ambient' album, "MUSIC FOR MRI SCANNERS" (Tom Green) is now available from

www.anotherfineday.co.uk

both as CD only and as combined DVD/CD (with John Rixon's video, edit viewable below) You can also head over to iTunes by clicking this link

Commissioned from Tom Green by the Royal Infirmary, Bristol UK, for ambient level playback in the ancillary areas of a new scanner installation, it's specifically written to calm young children before and after scanning, since the Royal Children's Hospital is next door. Incorporating dense textures of natural sounds, interweaved with fragments of melody (and no obvious rhythm or drums) it works very nicely on adults too, especially for yoga and meditation, or just plain old chilling out Recently featured on BBC RADIO 3 LATE JUNCTION by MAX REINHARDT.

Bless 'im . cheers, Max !

Judge for yourself on the retro player below - these samples are edits from the three 20 minute tracks.

ANOTHER FINE DAY- what those luvvly critics have to say

'LIFE BEFORE LAND' (album 1994/2004)

".working in his Brixton back room with the minimal street-tech resources of a million other wired bedrooms, Tom Green sucks forms out of air, giving audio shape to the feeling of a sitting on a curve of sand, synchronising to tidal, primal sound loops." DAVID TOOP, BEYOND press release 7/94

".a fine example of the new eclecticism.this ambitious project succeeds through its ability to sound natural and supremely relaxed but challenging at the same time" ON MAGAZINE 9/94

".talking of "ambient", there's some music in that genre that is so well made and easy on the ear that there's not much more to say. The excellent Life Before Land by Another Fine Day, is a case in point. " JOHN L WATERS, in THE GUARDIAN 10/7/05

".this is music that I can't ever imagine not being part of my life."PETE LAWRENCE/THE BIG CHILL 8/04

'Life Before Land' was voted No 3 in THE INDEPENDENT'S "Best Ambient Albums" chart 7/05

'SALVAGE' (album 2000)

"Green creates a lovely and inviting sheen.even the traditional Shona piece "Cutting Branches" sounds likes it took a left turn into a Parisian cafe in space."US BILLBOARD 26/8/00

".before playing this lighter-than-air disc, you'd be well advised to nail your speakers to the floor." US JAZZ TIMES 2/01

"An essential release for any fan of downtempo, chill-out, or global contemplation" WAX 3/01

".a gorgeously chilled collection of well-earthed tracks. It's like shopping organic in the supermarket, you get used to it 'cos you know it's good for you" DJ MAGAZINE 2/6/01

".pure English summer, Big Chill, Enchanted Garden music.unique, interesting, and great for Sundays." MUZIK 7/01

TOM GREEN has also contributed to 5 albums by seminal ambient pioneers THE ORB, along with occasional mad blasts on Orb collaborator Simon Phillips' project PRAYERBOX, as well as celtic crossover artists BAKA BEYOND and David Bickley's HYPERBOREA, (though it has to be said that those 2 artists have very different ideas about what is 'celtic crossover'.)He has also collaborated further with David on the ambient album 'Erebus & Terror'-find it at www.myspace.com/bickleygreen

Right now Tom's working hard on the next AFD album, hopefully to be released on anotherfinelabel soon.

Tom may well join David Bickley later this year working on veteran electronica artist Hans Joachim ROEDELIUS' latest project.

You've probably also heard Tom's music on the BBC, Channel 4, CBBC, ITV, and RTE. and quite possibly on a film score. There's a player with some of these tunes on the left of this page.

Those looking for Tom's composer alter-ego can find him at
