While much of the mainstream bluegrass of today is pieced together in the studio, "Bolin Creek," was recorded live in Thorn's living room. This allowed the players to react to each other rather than overdub perfect solos. What came out of this comfortable environment is some of the best work of all the players featured, as well as great representations of Andy's original songs.
