Andres Rotmistrovsky (also known as AndRES Rot): Bassist, Producer, Composer and Arranger.
Performs bass guitar almost every night of the week in the New York music scene, displaying versatility in playing virtually all styles of music from traditional and contemporary Jazz to R&B, Gospel, Pop, Rock, Celtic, Afro Beat, Flamenco, and Middle Eastern to Latin folkloric music from Peru, Brazil, Cuba, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay and Argentina.
Performs with own group, The Andres Rotmistrovsky Trio or Quartet, that includes a set of Solo-Bass music (in addition to playing with others).
Played with such musicians as Paquito D' Rivera, Joan Baez, Leon Gieco, Turkish Pop-Star Sertab Erener, Teresa Parodi, El Bahiano, Piero, Eva Ayllon and Marta Gomez.
Appears in a variety of venues, such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Latin Grammys, and Boston Symphony Hall.
Has toured the U.S. and the world several times (e.g., Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia) with various jazz/world and Latin groups.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina where he started his musical career from a very young age upon discovering and completely falling in love with the bass guitar. No one could stop him from practicing; very soon after at the young age of 14 he began his career as a professional musician playing Jazz and Rock in different venues and festivals.
Moved to the U.S. to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston where he was awarded several scholarships including "International Award 2003," The "Charles Mingus Award 2007," and the extremely prestigious "Outstanding Performer Award 2007." Studied in college with Matt Garrison, Joe Lovano, Terry Lyne Carrington and Oscar Stagnaro, among others. Graduated with honors in 2007, majoring in Jazz Composition.
Also has worked with Leo Blanco, Alex Brown, Terri Lyne Carrington (Herbie Hancock's drummer), Dontae Winslow, Gabriel Guerrero, Franco Pinna, Juancho Herrera, Fernando Brandao, Thaddeus Hogarth, Jon Hazilla, Oscar Feldman, Antonio Arnedo, and Alain Mallet, and with such groups as Fernando Brandao Quintet, Peru Mestizo, La Timbistica and Bernardo Monk Mass Tango. In Argentina, he has played and/or recorded with Leon Gieco, Juan "Pollo" Raffo, Axel, Miguel Cantilo, Victor Heredia, Juan Carlos Baglietto, Roque Narvaja, and Juan Cruz de Urquiza.

Andres Rot nació y se crió en la ciudad porteña de Buenos Aires, interesándose en las artes ya desde pequeño. Aprendió piano y guitarra antes de descubrir su inmensa pasión por el bajo. A los seis meses de comenzar a sus estudios de bajo con el maestro Roberto Moreno, recibe una beca para tocar en un ensamble de jazz dirigido por Héctor López Furst - hecho que lo inspira profundamente e impulsa a dedicarse por completo a la musica y ya nunca más detenerse. Andrés estudió en la Escuela de Musica Contemporanea de Buenos Aires donde se destacó tocando bajo y contrabajo. Graduado con un premio de performance con el que viajó a La Habana, Cuba para participar del festival Jazz Plaza. En el 2004 Andres viaja a Boston, USA para estudiar composición, bajo y contrabajo en el prestigioso Berklee College of Music. Alli, estudia con maestros como Joe Lovano, John Lockwood, Matt Garrison, Greg Hopkins, Terri Lyne Carrington, Alain Mallet, Dave Liebman, Billy Drewes, Oscar Stagnaro y Jamey Haddad. Andrés pasó por muy diversos escenarios desde America del Sur y Norte (Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Latin Grammys 2007, Regatta Bar, Ryles Jazz Club, Boston Symphony Hall), Escocia, Francia, España, Austria, Cuba, hasta Madagascar, Israel y Hawaii donde tocó con diferentes grupos de Jazz, Pop o Música Latinoamericana. En Argentina toco y/o grabo con Leon Gieco, Teresa Parodi, El Bahiano, Piero, Juan ¨Pollo¨Raffo, Axel, Miguel Cantilo, Victor Heredia, Juan Carlos Baglietto, Roque Narvaja, Juan Cruz de Urquiza. También tocó con Ava Ayllon, Joan Baez, Marta Gomez, Franco Pinna, Leo Blanco, Terri Lyne Carrington (baterista de Herbie Hancock), Gabriel Guerrero, Alex Brown, Dontae Winslow, Fernando Brandao, Thaddeus Hogarth, Jon Hazilla, Oscar Feldman, Antonio Arnedo, Alain Mallet. Su versatilidad como musico sesionista, compositor y arreglador lo mantiene en alta demanda en la escena de Nueva York. Actualmente Andrés toca entre otros, con el grupo Maeve Gilchrist Trio, con Gabriel Guerrero, Tantanakuy y con el maestro Juan Andres Ospina.
