andrea began when founding members tim ditzler, kyle pierce, and dan yorty took impromptu advantage of an empty stage at some long forgotten show at the fireplace in myerstown pa. what was played was essentially their first song. later, in tim's basement, dan and tim pounded out five brash bursts of noise, which they complemented later with their own vocals, also enlisting the assistance of kyle. tim also wrote short electronic pieces which were used to make the five songs flow one into the other stylishly. the resulting work of art was a self titled EP which bore the name of the band at that time, "rollercoaster of love." it has been both heralded for its savagery and condemned for the same reasons, a philosophic tradition that the band that has maintained to this day.

after playing one show as rollercoaster of love, the next step was a full length cd, composed of ten tracks, featuring all the old songs as well as some new additions, also recorded in tim's basement. kyle chiefly provided vocals, recorded in dan's bathroom, while tim and dad provided a little backup. in order to fill out the recordings, james cox provided the bass tracks, and eventually became a full time member of the group. wanting to be taken a little more seriously, the band decided to change their name to andrea. andrea began playing shows regularly resulting in a few tipped hats, a few disgusted faces, and general confusion across the board.

due to various conflicts, tim ditzler left the group. tim seifarth, who drummed in james' other band Dim the Lights, stepped in and recorded a new EP with the band, which featured a few renditions and a few new songs. it became the band's latest and finest work to date. the four played shows for a while, took a break, then played another show or two, and then took another break.

kyle has since decided to leave the band to pursue his passion for drum playing in his upcoming band, "appalachia." check them out when you get a chance, and be sure to mop up your face when you've finished listening. taking kyle's place will be james david, a veteran artist of both the visual and literary. right now the band is putting pieces together and preparing for a resurrection, which should feature a few interesting surprises.
