It all began in 2000 when the young singer Amoria met the young guitarist Jok'a'Face, both from Paris, France. They began to write and compose what would become their first demo. In 2006, they decided to find musicians to play their songs with them on stage. Amoria writes her songs in English only, a legacy of influences across the atlantic, a well-considered and assumed leadership. The compositions of Jok'a'Face are increasingly coloured by Soul and Jazz, whilst still keeping an urban style. The mixture is taking shape and concerts are booked, more and more of them!
Since then, they have never stopped touring. Nearly 200 concerts in great places in Paris such as Le Zenith, La Scene Bastille, Le Trabendo, Le Petit Journal Montparnasse, Opus (Bizz'art), Le Réservor, Le Theatre des Blancs Manteaux, La Bellevilloise, The Enghien Jazz Festival, passing by the country (Gironde, Savoie), Martinique, Guadeloupe as well as playing abroad (Turkey and Morocco).
In 2008, Amoria wrote lyrics for and sang on a few songs from the soundtrack of the movie "Coco" by the famous French humorist Gad Elmaleh, released in cinemas March 2009. She had an appointment in February 2010 at a secret venue for a master-class ran by Dorian Holley (Michael Jackson's vocal coach on all his tours since the album "Bad", as well as the vocal coach for Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Usher, Rod Stewart, Lionel Richie, John Legend and Mary J Blige), an experience she will never forget! In May of 2010, Amoria joined the famous gospel choir "Gospel pour 100 Voix" (directed by Linda Lee Hopkins), and since December 2010, Amoria & Jok'a'Face have been opening every show of the French humorist Claudia Tagbo from The Jamel Comedy Club.
Amoria & Jok'a'Face have met many music professionals, meetings that will remain engraved, such as: Tyrone Downie (Bob Marley & The Wailers), Robert Irving III (Miles Davis), the beatboxer KamelBox, french RnB singer Assia, DJ Cut Killer, french humorist Claudia Tagbo, Linda Lee Hopkins (Ray Charles, Gospel pour 100 voix), Jean Alain Roussel (Bob Marley, The Police, Sting, Cat Stevens, Celine Dion), French composer Khalil Maouene (Assia) and Stoner (Scale).
The two companions are currently recording their first full album and their first EP will be out later in May 2011, with some special guests appearances and collaborations, stay tuned!
