A.M.

A.M. was born September 10th in Beckley, West Virginia a child of the 70's. Known to his family and friends as Stephen Rutland, he is the oldest of two sons. A.M. spent the early part of his life traveling from military base to military base in the states as well as around the world. His parents, a military officer father and a beautician mother encouraged him and his brother to pursue every ambition they showed interest in from sports to music. It's when A.M.'s family finally settled down in Fort Washington, Maryland, that he started to show signs of his musical talents. Participating in everything from marching band to jazz band, A.M. excelled on the trumpet and slowly started to shine vocally. Like most R&B singings A.M.'s vocal talents began in the church. Under the mentorship of the late Reverend Donald Vails, A.M. was thrusted into solos and a life of performing groups and gospel choirs. As he started to feel more confident in his vocal talents, A.M. began exploring activities outside of the gospel world. Throughout grammar and high school, A.M. cultivated & showcased his talent by participating in a host of local talent shows and events. During this time he also performed at various clubs, weddings and benefits in and around surrounding areas. After getting off to a rough start with his first solo disc, One Day, A.M. had a successful run with two singles – Let it Roll and I'm Ready. "It was interesting, having to prove myself all over again. People knew me as, "a guy from that group" but I slowly established myself as a strong independent artist." Lately A.M. has been working on his second solo disc titled, Up All Night, the North Carolinian implant is hoping to appeal to fans of all ages.
