Biography :



On 1991, Alper Aga & Kabus Kerim formed the group in Nürnberg / Germany. This year, they released the first turkish Rap track in the History named "Bir Yabancinin Hayati" (Life of a foreigner).



Two years later, they released classical tracks like "Cehenneme Hosgeldin" (Welcome to the Hell) and the controversal "Defol Dazlak", which was released also on a Maxi-Single format.



Then "Big Porno Ahmet" joined the group as a producer / beatmaker. Shortly, the success of Karakan surpassed the borders of Germany and started to get well-known within the European Hip-Hop scene. During the jams, they met Cinai Sebeke (Da Crime Posse) and Erci-E. Together, they established the legendary group CARTEL and released a compilation album in 1995.



The only Single from this album, "CARTEL", composed by Big Porno Ahmet, brought the biggest success in the turkish Hip-Hop history. With this unexpected success, they got Gold, Platinium and many more awards by selling more than 2,250,000 copies.



Not only being the first turkish group on MTV ever, CARTEL also received the "Best European Act" award from MTV.



On 1997, KARAKAN finally released his first official album "Al Sana Karakan" and shot 2 videos. This album has been one of the best turkish Hip-Hop albums ever, probably the best. The global quality of the album and the maturity of the group just put the level higher as it’s now very difficult for rappers to get a such level.

Tout a commencé en 1991, où Alper Aga & Kabus Kerim ont formé leur groupe "KARAKAN" à Nürnberg en Allemagne. Cette année là, ils sortent le premier titre de l’histoire du Rap turc, "Bir Yabancinin Hayati" (La vie d’un étranger).



Deux années plus tard, ils enchaînent les morceaux classiques tels que "Cehenneme Hosgeldin" (Bienvenue en enfer) et le très controversé "Defol Dazlak", sorti également sous forme de Maxi-Single.



Ensuite, "Big Porno Ahmet" joint le groupe en tant que producer / beatmaker. Rapidement, le succès du groupe dépasse les frontères allemandes et s’étale sur toute la scène Hip-Hop européenne. C’est là qu’ils rencontrent Cinai Sebeke (Da Crime Posse) et Erci-E. Tous ensemble, ils décident alors de ne former qu’un seul groupe : CARTEL.



L’album de CARTEL, une sorte de compilation regroupant les titres solos des différents groupes de base, sort en 1995. Le seul single de l’album composé par Big Porno Ahmet, qui est le seul titre où l’on peut entendre tous les membres réunis, a apporté le plus gros succès du Rap turc de tous les temps. En effet, ce succès pourtant inattendu au départ a permis au groupe d’obtenir un disque d’or puis de platine, avec aujourd’hui plus de 2,250,000 d’exemplaires vendus…



N’étant pas seulement le premier groupe turc à être diffusé sur MTV, CARTEL a même reçu de la chaîne le "Best European Act" award.



C’est en 1997 que le groupe KARAKAN sort finalement son premier album solo, "Al Sana Karakan".

Cet album a tout simplement été l’un des meilleurs albums de Rap turc de tous les temps, probablement le meilleur. En effet, la qualité générale de l’album et la maturité du groupe ont placé la barre tellement haute pour les rappeurs actuels qu’il leur est actuellement très difficile aujourd’hui d’atteindre un tel niveau.
