Once upon a time, in an island far, far away (Santo Domingo), born was Alih Jey, the daughter of a Dominican King and Queen of Boleros. Alih Jey grew up in a musical castle, learning from an early age how to sing in harmony with her two older sisters, and performing for the townspeople with her family time and again. At 12 years of age, Alih won 2nd place in the Children's Latin American Voice Festival, and a year later became the host of the popular television show "Topi Topi de Fiesta" on Saturday mornings. Soon after, Alih began to play the harpsichord and to come up with melodies of her own. She was signed by Universal Music Latino at 16.
Alih released two albums with Universal, then an independent release (Necia), which was nominated for a Latin GRAMMY in the category of Best Rock Solo Vocal Album. Alih is the first dominican ever to be nominated in this category. She also reached 2 with her single "Ingrata" in her town of origin, and co-wrote as well as performed the closing song for the Casandra Awards (the Dominican equivalent of the GRAMMYS). Alih was Clear Channel's Hispanic Artist of the month in March 2009, has played in SXSW while promoting "Necia," was a winner of the iTunes Jukebox Jury, and was the opening act for Paulina Rubio in her "Pau-latina" tour.
After 3 published works, and much recognition in the Latin Music Industry, Alih is now inspired to use her quill for the English language. Her new single, "Entertain Me" is a delightfully playful cat-and-mouse tale of a damsel enjoying attention from a knight she'll never marry. This whimsical melody with a biting twist on romance, relays Alih Jey's sass and witty humor and serves as an ideal introduction to an album that will undoubtedly relegate her reign into a new realm. Alih is eager to share her new compositions with other magical kingdoms in a quest to conquer fresh hearts.
