Fresh. Talented. Passionate. These are just a few words to describe Alan’s Folly, the next big thing in the Nashville rock scene. Seeing the band take off from its early days and grow into a commanding presence in the local rock world, Alan’s Folly has emerged once again to continue what it has already started. Johnathan (Lead Vocals, Guitar), Jeff (Lead Guitar), Jesse (Bass), and Jess (Drums) have all come together to make their mark, and you can be sure that they aren’t leaving any time soon.
Going far beyond the cookie cutter pop and rock nuances that are so prevalent in the genre today, the band goes to great lengths to personalize their sound. They inject into their music all of the inspiration absorbed from the iconic music of decades past, all the while allowing it to feed on the very depths of their souls, and still they never stray from the sound that they love. Someone once said that there’s no new music anymore. Maybe there isn’t, but that doesn’t mean that there can’t be any great music anymore either. Alan’s Folly is a testament to that very fact. That’s the common thread that unites all the members of Alan’s Folly: a desire to make great and distinct music. This is the principle that has led Alan’s Folly into the studio to record their first EP “Hindsight 20/20”, as well as their most recent Untitled EP. This belief that they can be distinct, great, and relevant all at once has stayed with them as they have found themselves in numerous studios and in the best rock venues that Nashville has to offer.
Having played shows both near and far to Nashville, TN, not to mention a performance at the Journey’s Backyard BBQ alongside Angels and Airwaves in the summer of 2008, Alan’s Folly is making one thing clear – they’re serious about the music they make, and they don’t plan on fading into the background until the whole world knows it. Alan’s Folly competes regularly in Battle of the Bands competitions, where their brand of rock commands the respect and attention of all those who see their breathtaking and relentlessly energetic live shows. Alan’s Folly is clearly seen as a fan favorite, and that’s something they are continually humbled by.
Since the formation of Alan’s Folly, the band has played dozens of shows, all focused on one thing: building a following of amazing fans. The way they see it, Alan’s Folly fans take time out of their busy lives to come and experience something special with the band, so getting to know every single one of them is extremely important to the guys (and girl!) of Alan’s Folly. The hours spent after shows meeting with fans, selling CD’s and shirts, signing autographs, snapping pictures, and just building relationships is a testament to that.
It’s these relationships with their fans that propel Alan’s Folly forward, and it’s the commitment to their fans that comes to mind in every song they write. “We are just very blessed to have the support of so many great people,” says Johnathan “and because we have their support we have a responsibility to begin writing with them in mind.” With one EP already under their belt and a brand new one hitting shelves this December, they realize that the best is yet to come.
