Akil Smith aka "Akiliboy” is a producer, songwriter and arranger. This 3 in 1 combination exemplifies his magnificent character. Akiliboy co-founder and Producer at Kingston 6 Rekords/BYG Family Muzik is all for quality entertainment. “I believe in recording clean uplifting music, one that delivers a message in each song”. Akiliboy teamed up with Lorenzo “Sean” Lewis (Executive Producer) to form Kingston 6 Rekords in 2001, in later years Tamara “T-Mar” Dasman (PR Executive) was added to the team and the rest is history. Under the motto “We do what is done exceptional as motivation to do another” the work began.

Pride is taken in each project, and since the first “Blue Chip Riddim” all the others has been just as successful and melodious. In the latest project Taxi Plus, Akiliboy has served as engineer on all songs, heard giving his artistic input an all the tracks recorded. The Taxi Plus Riddim features: Warrior King & I-Nubia, Anthony B, Lutan Fyah, Raww Deal, G Maffiah, Khristopher, Ras Myhrdak, 10UK, Lucky Charm, Neinah, Erup and Mr. Perfect.

Akiliboy has written and produced songs with the likes of Buju Banton, Mr.Peppa, Showki-Ru, Khristopher, lexus and Nameless (Kingston 6 secret) to name a few.“Music is my life, my duty is to make sure that what is heard is sweet to the eardrums, I want people to listen and feel good about the music, that’s my objective”. Akiliboy works closely with Natural Bridge Records and Ward 21 Productions as they believe in a Supa Frendship. He has the habit of going to stage shows quite early for the main reason of taking in the upcoming acts. “I like talent scouting I want to be able to predict and produce the next big artiste”.

Akiliboy have work with producers such as Scatta (from Ruff Cut), Dia (Builders Music) and Bulby & Fatta (Fateyes). In the near future he hopes to work with producers such as Bobby Digital, Sly & Robbie, Christopher Birch and Clive Hunt to name a few. He also would love to work with artiste such as Tanya Stevens, Etana, Luciano, Ninjaman, I-wayne, Nas, Reme Martin, Dido and Tracy Chapman to name a few.

Akiliboy was recently heard saying “Right now mi love the music too much fi try and kill it, so mi ago jus do my best and make authentic Reggae/Dancehall Music that can sustain and keep this genre alive”. As always Akiliboy remains in the studios doing what he does best.
