On Sunday March 18th, A.J Moore will be releasing his debut album 'Harmonics' under FCL Recordings. A.J Moore is an artist of the highest calibre who has performed in some of the world's most famous venues from The Royal Albert Hall in London to the People's Theatre in Shanghai. He has earned the respect from his music industry peers and the admiration of fan forums while performing as guitarist for number 1 selling classical artists Hayley Westenra, Laura Wright, Jonathan Ansell, Lee Mead and Faryl Smith. Now he is set to embark on his own artistic vision.
Harmonics is a pop rock endeavour that is infused with musical elements from classical, modern jazz, soul and blues. Originally from Carlisle, England, A.J's classical training and formal education at Leeds College of Music equip him with the tools to compose music beyond the standard chord progressions already exhausted by many of his top selling contemporaries. Harmonics is a product of A.J's relentless work ethic and broad musical vocabulary. He has created an energetic and sophisticated sound both instrumentally and vocally. The lyrical content is no less captivating discussing a wide range of themes and emotions from failed relationships, work, the environment and bullying, to self-doubt and love.
Written, performed, recorded and produced by A.J, Harmonics was completed in mid 2011. While most instrumental parts and vocals were performed by A.J, Harmonics benefited from the contributions of legendary acid jazz musician Jan Kincaid, drummer of 'The Brand New Heavies', and writer of songs like 'Never Stop' and 'Dream On Dreamer'. The strings were supplied by members of Classic FM favourites 'The Pavao Quartet', bass and piano moments by the respected session musician Al Gurr and a couple of electrifying solos by top jazz guitarist, Jamie McCredie. What is unarguably unique about Harmonics is that it is comprised of material that makes for a thrilling live concert experience. Coupled with the fact that the band consists of top session musicians, A.J Moore is evoking an audience response that is igniting a booking-frenzy amongst London promoters.
A.J has performed in several international venues worldwide and like Bruce Springsteen, Prince and Dave Matthews Band, he knows intuitively how to work an audience, whatever the size. In the recording studio, he plays every note with depth and feeling, and delivers lyrics with a passion and intensity that draws you in. Add to these skills a playful wit that is truly British, A.J is poised to become a great musical export.
Harmonics was mixed by A.J and Santi Arribas (The Mixing Factory) and was mastered at Metropolis Studios. The three songs deemed as fan favourites are 'Moving On', 'Take It All Away' and 'Dreaming'. Moving On, which was briefly released for free download via the official unsigned UK music chart, held its top 10 position for 11 weeks with no promotion. Consequently, it is scheduled for a single release February 26th at a stellar charitable event in honour of the Scots Guards at one of London's premier live haunts, 'The Troubadour'. Further events and festival performances are being lined up for 2012. For current confirmed gig listings go to www.ajmooremusic.com.
Take It All Away, a conservation awareness song, written in honour of Sir David Attenborough, will be raising money for charities personally recommended by him. Furthermore, A.J was invited by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to perform at the 2009 Copenhagen Climate Summit (COP15).
Harmonics is only the beginning. A.J has already completed recording a second acoustic album titled 'Stripped' at the studio of Gang of Four founder and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers producer, Andy Gill. 'Stripped' is due for release later in 2012. Furthermore, with A.J's constant output of new songs, a third band album is scheduled for recording later in the year.
As well as his solo, session work and recording, A.J has written features for Total Guitar, Guitar Techniques and The Acoustic Magazine. He also presented Rockschool's Guitar Tuition DVDs, plus short videos for Total Guitar.
So, 2012 is already promising to be A.J's best year to date. The material is ready, the drive to perform live is insatiable and his vast network of industry-recognised musicians is at the ready to thrill audiences worldwide.
