Acoustic Minds, Portland OR - Consists of 5 musicians combining their love of electronic soul, pop, dub step and drum n bass music with live instruments. Compared to Lauryn Hill, Katy B, Imogen Heap, Rihanna, Zero 7 and Little Dragon. Identical twins Jenni and Amanda Price, formed Acoustic Minds in 2002. Their sound began with two guitars and 3 vocalists writing heart felt anthems of love and loss. Over the next 10 years they would collaberate with 100's of artists. Including NorthWest favorites, Keegan Smith & the Fam, Marv Ellis & the Platform, Lafa Taylor, Jah Sun & the Redemption Band, Handful of Lovin', Jeremy Serwer & Rich Man's Burden, The Escort Service, Alcyon Massive, Shook Twins, Poeina Suddarth, Liv Warfield, Indubious and Cornflower. They've also shared the stage with International Stars, Alborosie, India Arie, Gentlemen, NAS, Damian Marley, Fort Knox Five, Theivory Corportation, Lynx, Sound Tribe Sector Nine, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Sista Carol, Itawe, Anthony B, Soul Tribe, Toussaint the Liberator and Lloyd Brown to name a few. The Summer of 2010 introduced them to two new members, Aaron Altemose on Roland Phantom X6/X8 keyboards and vocals and Josh Lorenzen on bass and mini KORG. With Chris Matthews holding down the drums and experimenting with Roland electric drums the 5 of them would spend a year shaping their sound and getting the feel for one another as musicians. During that time with weekly rehearsals they would create over 30 new songs, each unique and moving towards a whole new sound.
The attached demo is a sneak peak from that new sound and 6 track EP being released this summer.
Their live show is a must see, on any given night you will hear pop, soul infused dub step, spacey industrial bubble bass mixed with three part harmonies and catchy electric beats.
