HISTORY
ACADIA began playing together in early 2005 in southern Massachusetts as a group of friends who all shared a common passion for music, and for writing and playing songs that showcased their varied musical tastes. This variance of musical preferences has very strongly influenced the bands unique style, featuring dueling vocals and a balance of technicality, fury, and a certain vulnerability about the songs lyrics. In only two years, Acadia has managed to develop a large and very loyal fan base attending and selling out shows in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, recorded a debut album entitled the Long Way Down EP at Echo Room Productions with producer Ian Van Opijnen (best know for his work with Epitaph Records’ VANNA and Ferret Records/S.O.A.R's The Breathing Process, as well other Massachusetts bands such as Therefore I Am), and has had the pleasure to share the stage with such bands as BAYSIDE (Victory Records), I AM THE AVALANCHE (Drive-Thru Records), THE DEAR HUNTER (Triple Crown Records), VANNA (Epitaph Records), and many others.
Acadia's ever-growing fan base is due in large part to the bands amazingly energetic live show. Able to mix showmanship with musicianship without compromising either, Acadia connects to almost every crowd instantly and refuses to let go until the last chord of the final song. It was this live edge that caught the eye of Robotica Records, an independent label based out of Boston, Massachusetts. Robotica claimed that they saw something special in the music and that they instantly knew that they wanted to be a part of it, and signed the band on the spot.
In 2006, ACADIA focused very strongly on writing new material that surpassed their own expectations and pushed the envelope as far as what can be used in today’s indie and post-hardcore scenes. Experimenting with different styles of arrangements and new instruments, the result of these songs is truly mind-blowing. All of Acadia's hard work and dedication as a band is showcased in their album, “The Last One Standing" which FuelTheScene.com called “the best EP [the site has] ever heard by an underground band” in May of 2007, and went on to say that “At the drop of a hat, ACADIA can change from subdued, mellow rock to sheer chaos…”
Recently, the record has drawn some attention and high praise. In December 2006, ACADIA was featured on MTVU’s website BestMusicOnCampus.com as a top upcoming artist, and was on the front page of the site as the “Artist Spotlight” the week of August 20-27, 2007. The band’s highest praise thus far came in January 2007, when MTVU in conjunction with Epitaph Records named ACADIA as one of the top 5 unsigned bands in the nation. the music caught the attention of MTV Networks, who licensed the bands music for use in their TV show, movies, and other media ventures.
During the summer of 2007, ACADIA had the chance to carry this momentum in to the studio once again and record some new material as well as the band’s first music video. The band feels it is the best material they have created to date, due in part to the addition of lead guitarist Jeff Bielet. The songs show the bands growth as musicians, songwriters, artists and as individuals. acts.
