Award winning New Orleans trumpeter and vocalist, Abram Wilson, is one of the hottest jazz trumpeters in the UK today. Wilson was born in Arkansas and raised in Louisiana, where he attended the famed New Orleans Center for the Performing Arts, like Wynton Marsalis and Harry Connick Jr before him. After spending some time in New York where he appeared with Roy Hargrove and toured with blues legend Ruth Brown, Wilson moved to London. He has since recorded three critically acclaimed albums; Jazz Warrior (2004), Ride! Ferris Wheel to the Modern Day Delta (2006), and Life Paintings (2009). He has received a number of awards and nominations including winner of the International Songwriting Competition and the British Jazz Award for Best New CD (2007). With a trumpet style reminiscent of a Freddie Hubbard, Miles Davis, and Wynton Marsalis and the vocals of Sammy Davis Jr. and Chet Baker, Wilson has created a unique and captivating style of melodic compositions that swing and groove. A charismatic Wilson on stage and off, his musicality displays warmth, passion, virtuosity, and soul.
He's a bad mother*!%&^ who can play his ass off. Dr John
