Aborted Society began in the Winter of 1998 as a website. There wasn't a lot of punk content on the web, and we wanted to make something that was useful amidst the myriad of advertisements and bad writing the internet is so renowned for. In 1999, Rob and J@ck began the Aborted Society Zine, a project that was supposed to come out 4 times a year, but ended up coming about about once every 7 months. We have since stopped doing the zine, but we have intentions of starting a new publication sometime in the future. Keep posted on that. At some point, we will archive all of the zines online for your perusal and general merriment.
Started putting out records and promoting shows in June of 2000. We specialize in crust and hardcore punk. We are always looking for new material to release, so get in touch if you're in a band that might fit on our label. We're looking for bands that don't generally fall under typical classifications, bands that have original artwork, ideas, and sounds.

Aborted Society is proud to present the debut LP from Portland's MURDERESS. Dark, brooding metallic d-beat crust punk with spine-tingling screaming vocals, this is an up and coming female-fronted group that falls somewhere in between the 80's metallic punk style of groups like SACRILEGE (UK) and melody-driven crust akin to ZERO HOUR. Portland's NUX VOMICA return with their second full-length album on Aborted Society, "Asleep in the Ashes." Constantly defying easy classification, NUX VOMICA has persistently challenged and redefined the constructs of DIY punk since their inception in 2003, and this release is certainly testament to that. Merging elements of crust, thrash metal, sludge, doom, psychedelia and post-rock, Asleep in the Ashes is a 60-minute long epic that weaves in and out of genres with equal amounts of ferocity and complexity.
