ABiCA BIO:



Who are ABiCA? The group is comprised of two members, Tac and Hash – Two longtime friends with a mission to take music back to its roots and make music that is not only smart, but true to real life. After years of witnessing bands imitate each other and follow the same popular music blueprint of things like two-word choruses (which, let's be honest, is really nothing more than a backdrop for girls to shake their asses to) the group set out to make music that was not only thought provoking, but relatable to the everyday person.
ABiCA's sound is fundamentally rooted in hip-hop and rock – However, complexities in their music reveal influences from several other genres as well. In an article by James Zahn of Kik Axe Entertainment, Zahn writes, "Artists like to pepper their bios with statements about how they 'can't be classified by genre,' 'meld styles,' etc., but most of the time it's nothing but meaningless PR fluff and empty babble. ABICA, on the other hand, has every right to make those type of statements - they'd all be legitimately accurate."
Beyond their sound, ABiCA's music is often recognized for its lyrical content, with members Tac and Hash taking listeners on a compelling journey into the deepest and darkest corners of their minds. As Kort Kramer of Lunch.com writes, "[ABiCA's lyrics] are very well thought out. These songs are brimming with emotion."
The duo released their first album entitled Truth In Lies (TIL) in 2007. TIL along with the group's sophomore album, Enigma (2008), are both currently out of print. While ABiCA's first two albums were highly successful in the underground and built the group a solid fan base, their third album, Numb Prelude (2009), was the album that brought the band national notoriety. This success was largely due to the dedication and persistence of not just the band but also their devoted following pushing the free release. The group's most recent album, Numb (2010), is thought to be the definitive ABiCA album – Stretching the limits of what the group had done before. With both Tac and Hash taking on bigger roles in the production of the album (and Hash taking over most of the mixing duties himself), the group was able to follow their vision more closely than ever before and put out something truly unique. The album found much appeal outside of the underground, as mainstream rock and industrial fans stopped to take notice.
This album should surely be the starting point for any new ABiCA fan as the band recognizes this as their first true album. It is the only album available on iTunes and past releases are difficult to come by at this time. The band does plan to make their earlier titles available in the future, perhaps remastered.
Whats Next
ABiCA took a well deserved break following the release of Numb in August of 2010. The album was labor intensive, seeing as it was in production for over 2 years. Recently however, the band has been busy playing shows and recording new material. It should also be noted that an extensive back catalog of unreleased material exists and some of the best songs may see the light of day before long
Lastly, ABiCA'S first ever music video for "Tell Us Why" is nearly finished. The delay has been caused by ABiCA (self proclaimed perfectionists) continuing the gather more footage. Filming ceased on july 20th 2011 and release of the video should follow in just a few weeks.
So stay tuned for the new video and information on the next album which they is currently planned for a late 2011/early 2012 release!
