Hi There

We are 3 mates from Steel City UK, who write songs and play gigs. I guess we are a skate punk band even though none of us can skate (Lee tried for a bit, the rest of us just pretended - but seriously we suck) We started in 2002 and have been gigging ever since. We are not a band who changes with the times, we are not following any trends and in no way does fashion influence our music.

In this 4 year stint we have played over 300 gigs, released 3 EPs and Supported the best touring punk bands the UK has to offer (4ft Fingers, Phinius Gage, Uncle Brian, Whitmore, Howards Alias, Captain Everything, MYBE, Pickled Dick etc)

Here is some stuff you might not know about us:

1. 5FD is taken from the name 5 Finger Discount. thats what we started out as but a metal band from York already had the name and they looked harder than us so we settled on 5FD. People always guess what it means, this is the truth.

2. Our very first gig was at the Queens Jubilee in 2002 in Rotherham town centre on a massive stage infront of over 500 people and was broadcast on local radio - We got pulled off after 10 minutes for being so bad and the final straw was covering "God Save The Queen" by the Sex Pistols.

3. We Have Supported the Jive Bunny. and the stars in your eyes winner from 2002 supported us (sucks to be him)

We are a band who really loves our fans, we dont add people - just let people add us, we deny more freind requests than we accept, especially from bands, recording studios, clothing companies and promoters from other sides of the globe. If you do make the decision to add us then we are very grateful and would love to bum you. Finally if you want to keep intouch with the world of 5FD please join our list of awesomeness below. We promise not to spam you constantly like some bands do, we will only message you when something you might actually care about happens.

Here's a review from a recent 5FD gig in Sandman Magazine -

"5FD are the band everyone wants to see, and after the first track the whole place seems to bouncing around more than a Page 3 girls trampoline frat party. Frontman Dan wastes absolutely no time in involving the crowd and delivering his own unique style of thrashy guitar ska licks and seemingly perfect vocals. Bassist Jon also seems perfectly at home with his role in the band, working nicely alongside Dan but also bringing basslines home that would make any 4 string skanker proud. Lee's drums are mesmerising, but also refreshing to see someone who actually sees the drums as a playable instrument, rather than just something to hit. Perfectly timed rolls and two songs in and I'm starting to get tired just watching these guys, who are positively full of energy. Think NOFX meets an early Less Than Jake in a seedy hotel room less the horns and 5FD would be the product. Between songs the crowd are entertained in ways other than musically by the ramblings of frontman Dan and drummer Lee, who bounce off each other like a drug induced Dodgem ride. If this band doesn't go anywhere then you can imagine these two hosting some sort of MTV Ska Punk show, with bassist Jon as the weather girl. With song titles that make you spit your drink back up ("Good Lobes, Good Times, It's not rocket science" being the most memorable) it's almost depressing when they announced their last song, and wrapped the night up with a final hike up the rollercoaster that is 5FD. I can't help but feel that there's no dip on these ride though, 5FD are seemingly flying, and they might just know it. " - Ekke
