Modern Rock band 40 Sons came together in the spring of 2004 and began creating their own style of alternative rock by combining melodic vocals, pulsing rhythms and heavy guitar riffs. In March 2007, 40 Sons released their second EP, "The Monsters' Face", to much critical acclaim. Based on the strength of the album and their intense live performances, they were named Local Group of the Year at the 2007 Hamilton Music Awards, adding another honour to their short career which includes the Roger Spring Music Festival Breakout Band of the Year in 2006, an opening spot at the 2006 Ozzfest tour, runner-up at the internationally known Toronto Indie Week, and two other Hamilton Music Award Nominations including New Artist of the Year and Album of the Year. They toured all across Southern Ontario and Eastern Canada and continued to develop their exciting live show. 2008 saw the band win Canada's most prestigious National band battle as they were named the Canadian Bodog Music Battle Champion. 40 Sons then utilized the talents of acclaimed producer Carl Jennings of Westmoreland Studios and famed mixing engineer John Nazário of Iguana Studios, to create a new EP which at the time was the band's best work to date. With this new recording came new opportunities, feature radio play, significant online attention, and many more live shows.
2009 proved to be a very busy year for the band. 40 Sons released another new self-titled EP early in the year that was extremely well received by both Industry and the band's rapidly growing Ontario fan base. It was time to take the project to the next level which is exactly what the band did, following a successful showcase performance at Indie Night In Canada. With a new name, new direction, and a focus to be one of Canada's hardest working bands, 40 Sons took their high energy live show on the road playing more than 100 dates in 5 months. From Vancouver to Montreal, 40 Sons announced themselves as a band to be watched including conquering numerous big festivals and sharing stages with iconic artists as Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society, System of a Down, Disturbed, Atreyu, Gord Downie, Default, 54/40, Econoline Crush, Thornley, April Wine Neverending White Lights The Salads, USS and John Corabi . After extensive touring; 40 Sons continued to cultivate their own unique sound. That sound ultimately came to the attention of Award-Winning Producer Dale Penner of Paradise Alley Studios (Matt Good, Nickelback, Holly McNarland, Econoline Crush) where the band recorded new tracks in November of '09 to be included on their first LP "Madness". They were then named Canada's top indie artist, beating out over a thousand bands from across the country for the 2010 Ambassadors Of Rock Battle Of The Bands at The Hard Rock Cafe, Toronto
They toured for half of 2010, armed with their new album "Madness", 40 Sons released the first single "The End" to Commercial Radio in January. The album was nominated for album of the year at the Hamilton Music Awards. After touring for 6 months the band took some time off from the road and spent a full year of writing and recording their best material yet! The new album is loaded with their own brand of dynamic and catchy rock songs such as 'One Way Ticket,' 'Broken' and 'Run Baby Run.' With a big sound and even bigger live show, 40 Sons are a time bomb waiting to explode.
