Considered to be innovators of a contemporary sound that is sweeping the nation, TMJC (formerly Tony Moore & Jehovah's Chosen) is comprised of a soulful group of 15 singers, dancers and poets, as well as an aggregation of top-notch musicians that carry a positive message. Founded by singer/songwriter Tony Moore in 1996, the group has grown spiritually and musically since its inception. Performances are described as more of a broadway production, as the electrifying songbirds effectively dominate every inch of the stage. TMJC's debut project, Love Lifted Me, broke record sales in the first quarter of 2000, and was tagged the 'Album of the New Millennium' with heavy rotation of several of its songs on syndicated and local radio stations across the country. "You can't go wrong with TMJC's music," said Stan North of GospelFlava.com. "The potency of the band is so strong, and the musical arrangements so awe-inspiring, that by the album's end, it has become the main impact." In October 2004, TMJC recorded its sophomore album, Action Figures/New Wave Disciples featuring renowned percussionist, Sheila E.; Holy Hip-Hop pioneer, The T.R.U.T.H.; Marsha Ambrosius of Floetry and Jasmine Sullivan. The album is slated for a June 2006 release. One of the album's songs, "Trust and Obey" is currently on rotation at WJSS 1330 AM in the Washington, D.C. area. TMJC's vision is to mend broken spirits, uplift bowed down heads and allow listeners to experience the love and freedom of God. The new-wave disciples have vowed to take the Gospel to diverse people and places, and passionately live by the scripture: " For many are called, but few are chosen" [St. Matt.22:14]. The group frequently travels throughout the United States and Canada, and has appeared on stage with well-known gospel recording artists, such as Cross Movement, John P. Kee, Rev. James Moore, Hezekiah Walker, Shirley Caesar, and others. TMJC has also shared the stage with various secular artists: Common, Bow Wow, Jasmine Sullivan, Musiq, Vivian Green, Bilal and Black Thought (of the Roots). Further testifying to the group's versatile talent, TMJC has performed at Universoul Circus, Temple University's "Saturday Night Live at the Underground", and has recorded the jingle and appeared in the nationally televised commercial for Profoot, Inc. Tony Moore continues to collaborate with musical trailblazers such as Vidal Davis, (who has produced music for artists such as Michael Jackson, Yolanda Adams, Tevin Campell and Jill Scott), Junius Bervine (who has produced music for D'Angelo, Brian Mcknight, Glenn Jones and Vivian Green), James Poyser (who has produced music for artists, including Hezekiah Walker, Erykah Badu, Lauren Hill, Ty Tribbett & Greater Anointing), Anthony Bell (of Jazzy Jeff's Studio and "A Touch of Jazz") and others.
