"Substantial as the shadow of a shade,
And Dreaming but a dream within a dream!" -Calderon.

"A cyclical repeating struggle of forlorn wills. Life and death are defied within the unbroken circle for the search of unquenchable thirsts." Beatnic was quoted as saying pertaining to the hidden meaning of the plot for the music video/film "Tomorrow Is Today" Not really sure that answer helped, actually it probably hurt. Clear as mud! BassMint Pros love being cryptic and answer most questions ambiguously so this overtly spacey answer is to be expected.

Beatnic went on to further explain that the video treatment came to him in a lucid dream. It was written well over two years ago (before the video was made) on a desert trip to write music in Death Valley. This was over a year before the (all original live instrumentation) song itself was written and recorded (at the same time) in Kitefishing Studio, SLC. Written and performed by Mad Max and Beatnic. He said the first time he heard the song on playback in the studio he knew that this would be the perfect song for the video treatment.

The video (which Beatnic scouted over two years) was shot over three hot days in Spring/February of 2016. Minimal post effects were used in the making of this video. Only natural light was used for every single shot. The video is cut and edited as if it were a movie. He said he wanted it to be more like cinema since it was a incredibly visual video. The rhythm and tempo of the shots and cuts were done in such a way as to force the audience into feeling uneasy almost suffocating them. Beatnic claims the video treatment is loosely based on a very famous story, which of course he wouldn't reveal.

Weird Beard was initially going to be a Shaman dressed in a monks robe. However the Jedi Wizard seemed more fitting since Star Wars was filmed here as well. His foreboding character is a visual representation of death or a stylized version of a Hip-hop Grim Reaper. Beatnic said the conch is used as a metaphorical totem that is the physical manifestation of evil." further explaining "It seemed like the last thing you would find or search for in the the vastly harsh and unforgiving desert." Once again no mention to what the conchs metaphor is representing or replacing...

Beatnic said that a specific visual motif was also used. The story itself is told or shown conversely in the scaling down of the shots as the video progresses. Longer cuts and wider shots are seen at the beginning followed by tighter cuts and closer shots towards the ending. He went on about the existential conflict of the video stating that it is "the devolution of the protagonists, and their nearsighted plans failing them over and over again because they are inadequate and completely vain."... "Leaving them to reexamine the core identity of this repeating futile mission or better yet misadventure." He said the "Mise-en-scene or the visual aesthetic of the video is one of total and complete isolation within the emptiness"

The plot (as stated earlier is based on a famous story) is what happens in the video/film. He says it matter not about the plot. Forget not only the plot but also the story. The story is how the characters feel about what has happened to them. But that is pointless in the bigger scheme of things. The quest itself is what dooms them from the very inception. Once initiated there is no stopping it. A beginning with no end. So the only thing that truly matters is the overall theme of the video. - Gordon Benson.
