"Great EnergyGreat Sound" - ROBERT SMITH, THE CURE

"28 Costumes are important fun. *This Band Has Eaten All Our Money* is laced with twists, turns and skewif suprises that should (justice permitting) set wonky dancefloors ablaze." - Paul Rafferty, Hot Club de Paris

"Some of their songs are real loud, and some are real pretty" - Seasick Steve

"Alongside bitter- sweet lyrics like “Sorry I broke your fucking heart” the band decide to pack in the punches with their Fratellis-like ramshackle rock and shoegazey intervals. 28 Costumes have an insane energy, ripping through their set with fantastic furore and anthemic choruses." The Fly

"A defiantly elegant explosion of rock angst and realism. 28 Costumes are something to be listened to, not read about." Unpeeled

"For flat-packing adrenaline, they're up with the best - here's a hands down winner" The Skinny

"Watching a live 28 Costumes show is a bit like witnessing a tornado ripping through London. A feverish determination to smash eveything in their wake and leave the audience slightly unhinged." - Who's Jack Sept 2008

"This Band Has Easten All Our Money" is in John Kennedy's X Posure Top 5 on XFM - 26th Jan 2009

28 Costumes are five people. Christopher, Anthony, Andrew, Joanne and Allastair. They were brought together through a series of fortunate and unfortunate events which happened over a number of years. These events helped mould a somewhat special and magical bond between five blessed and unique individuals who, when as one, do very special things.

Christopher met Anthony in the back of a VW Beetle. They formed a strong and intense friendship, and worked on songs together for a year before considering recruiting a live band. They band played their first show in May 2004 and were picked up by legendary Liverpool record label Spank Records and immediately went into the studio to record the bands first LP, The Fake Death Experience’. The album came out in November 2004, to massive critical acclaim, prompting The Fly magazine to give it 5 stars and label the album ‘genius’ and great reviews in every magazine/newspaper around from the NME (8/10) to the Daily Star (4 Stars).

Since their formation in 2003 28 Costumes have seen many things come and go. They have played shows in all sorts of places far and wide, parading their craft through all corners of the world. Some in magical secret Forests in Germany; in Texas, where they hooked up with Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips to play a song together for the Jay leno show; shows in Vineyards underneath the pale moonlight; after-hours piano sing-along shows in old Irish pubs aswell as traditional shows with some of today’s most popular bands – Glasvegas, The Futureheads, Supergrass, Seasick Steve (who carved the bands name into his arm in marker pen for a festival show and exclaimed his love for the band live onstage), Editors and Bloc Party and in June 2008 played a monumental debut Glastonbury show .

In January 2007 28 Costumes went to snowy Berlin for a month. They lived in an underground bunker in –10 degrees without windows and without showers. Whilst there they started to write what would eventually become the follow up to their 2004 debut LP. They stayed in Germany for a further 6 weeks and began a rather surreal stadium tour with the country’s number one band at the time. The band were financially crippled at the time and this tour was only made possible because the fans of 28 Costumes donated odds and sods and quids to the group after an emergency myspace bulletin went out from Germany!

The band continued to write songs on their return to the UK in a dank, dark and extremely cold disused warehouse in Liverpool’s docklands area. They set up studio and began the recording sessions that would eventually be the band’s second long player. The album was produced by Andrew Donovan, who was not in 28 Costumes at the time, but was infact founder and chief song-writer in Elle S’Appelle. Who at the time had recently released a sold-out single on Moshi Moshi Records. Throughout the recording sessions, Andrew and 28 Costumes had formed a very special friendship and he had even started playing in the band for some live shows. Eventually for one reason or another Elle S’Appelle decided to split and it was a natural step for Andrew to make 28 Costumes not his mistress, but his wife.

Ladies and Gentlefolk, it’s taken 4 years of travelling around the globe together, over 500 live shows, make-ups, break-up and shake-ups but now we present to you in all their glorious sonic beauty, the passionated, the animated, the heart-breakingly spectacualar.28 Costumes.
