♣ 1TYM Biography ♣

1TYM means ONE TIME FOR YOUR MIND. 1TYM (Pronunciation the same as One Time) began when Teddy Park (Park Hong Jun) and Danny IM ( IM Taebin) auditioned for Brothers Entertainment. Teddy and Danny had been best friends and had attended Diamond Bar High School prior to their audition. After their audition, they were both selected to be sent to South Korea to further their careers as artists. It was there that Brothers Entertainment introduced 1TYM to the YG Entertainment, a Korean entertainment company.



Shortly after their change, 1TYM opened auditions to a large group of talented Koreans. Oh Jin Hwan, formerly a member of a dance group, auditioned and made it into 1TYM. Baek Kyoung also auditioned, but failed to make it in on first attempt. Despite the denial, Baek Kyoung's mother persisted in persuading 1TYM's manager, and finally made it in as 1TYM's fourth.



Danny and Teddy were Korean-Americans and Song Baek-kyung and Oh Jin-hwan were born and raised in Seoul.



1TYM originally had 7 members, but was cut down to four prior to album release.



Teddy is the main rapper, and leader of the group while Danny is the main soul vocalist (he released his self-titled R&B solo debut in 2005). Oh Jinhwan is known for his coarse style of rapping in addition to soft style of singing while creating unique dance moves, and the always wildly rambunctious Baekkyoung not only adds his amazing rapping and singing vocals to the group, but his funny personality as well. Baekkyoung is also one of the main composers of the group.



Along with Jinusean, 1TYM grew as one of the major bands of YG Entertainment, a total entertainment production and management agency that Yang Hyun-seok opened in 1998. In November of 1998, 1TYM released their first album, “One Time for Your Mind.” The debut song “1TYM” produced by Perry and Q were ranked on top of various music charts. In the end of the year, the band won an award as the best rookie of the year with the song. In April, 2000, 1TYM released their 2nd album. The band stood on stardom with songs like “Only Love” and “Qwaejin Ching Ching.” Since releasing the 2nd album, the members of the band began to show their talents in songwriting and producing. In particular, Song Baek-kyung and Teddy participated greatly in the making of various songs for the band. The third album by the band was released in December of 2001. All of the songs in the album entitled “Third time fo yo' mind” was written and produced by Teddy. The band continued their performing career together until 2003 when they released 4th album, “Once N 4 All.” In 2004, one of the members, Taebin, debuted as a solo singer with an album entitled “Taebin of 1TYM.” However, the solo debut of Taebin didn’t mean the breaking up of the band. In 2005, all the members go together again to release 1TYM’s 5th album, “One Way.”



Following the release and promotion period of their latest album, “ONEWAY.” 1TYM will be on hiatus for a few years due to Oh Jinhwan's mandatory military service. Teddy is working on his first solo album and Danny is planning the release of his second. Baekkyoung has now joined the group Moogadang.
