The Early Days

One Man Down were formed in March 2003 by 3 fuck heads from a small shithole in the north of England, those 3 fuck heads were Beanhead on guitar and vocals, his younger (but by no means smaller) brother Ry on bass and backing vocals, and Dan on the drums. With no song's and hardly any equipment they set about to beg, borrow and steal enough gear to learn some song's while at the same time trying to fund the UK beer brewing industry. Eventually they learned enough covers for a set and started to gig the local area of Leeds/Wakefield, over three years loads of gig's were played with bands such as Lowlife UK, Sick 56, Abrasive Wheels, Satanic Surfers, Swine, Yorkshire Rats, S.S.A, Middle Finger Salute, and a shit load more. The band built up a decent sized local following over this time and even went as far as to self release a five track E.P entitled "Dropout" consisting of all there own material, it was never properly released or distributed and as a result it didn't do too well. It sounds nothing like the band now and is quite tame in contrast but it's still pretty rare if you can manage to track down a copy, although it's fucking shit so we wouldn't advise you to waste your time looking for it.

The Death And The Re-Birth

June 2006 saw problems in the band surface over the musical direction which resulted in a split, after time out to think and have a few beers the band decided to reform and give it another try but this time with a much heavier and hardcore sound and also with the introduction of a fourth member and long time friend Morg on second guitar and backing vocals. Straight away the band threw out all the old song's and started writing a faster and much more aggresive set and within a short time the band were back playing gig's all over the UK with bands like Conflict, Assert, Red Alert, Crashed Out, Drongo's For Europe, Sick On The Bus, Extinction Of Mankind, Riot Squad, Resistance 77, 3CR, and countless more. Thing's were going well, new recordings where starting to be made and better gig's were bieng booked but problems were never far around the corner

Won't Be Defeated

During the late summer of 2007 tension in the band was on the rise again and by November Dan decided to put down his drum sticks and leave the band. After a long search we eventually got in contact with local, fast as fuck death metal drummer Diz and after a few rehearsals we were back again for a 2nd time and just in time to fill a slot supporting GBH in Halifax which was a stroke of luck! A while passed and loads more gigs were played up untill recently in March/April 2008 when Morg decided to call it a day and leave the band after just under 2 years. So now we've gone back to basics and returned to a 3-piece, we've got new songs on the way and hopefully plan on getting round to recording our first release sometime soon and hopefully having it out before the years up! Watch this space, we aren't going away
