THE Clancys hailed from Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary, They moved to AMerica as 3 Irish brothers looking to become actors along with their friend from Keady, Armagh, Tomym Makem however they soon found themselves drawn into the folk circut in Grenwhich town where they sang in pubs and socalised with many people including Dylan Thomas and a young Robert Zimmerman (Bob Dylan) Who claimed, "Liam Clancy is the best ballad singer around", they played Carnagie Hall in 1961 and the next year they played in front Of JFK, they carried on singing death of members did not stop the band although they had some troubles in the late 60's and mid 70's, when Tommy Makem left they Brought in their brother Bobby and nephew Robbie O'Connell, they carry on amazing audiences and delivering a slice of Ireland to Everywhere realy, Tom passed on in 1990 and Paddy in 1998 ad in 2002 Bobby left the world.

“An Evening with Liam Clancy”. Is a powerful and moving show full of passion and energy, which will make you laugh, give you food for thought and betimes bring a tear to your eye. There are the classic songs made famous by the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, stories of growing up in Ireland of the 40's and 50's, tales of Greenwich Village in the heady days of the early 60's and some pertinent observations on the state of the nation we live in today.
Clancy delivers with an undeniable charm and a precious talent, which is a joy to behold.

The talent in the Clancy Family certainly did not stop with the four boys. Each generation has produced a wealth of performers both amateur and professional. Liam Clancy will host an evening introducing you to some of the magnificent array of tallented Clancy's gathered here from all over the world.



Irish Folk Traditions Talent Competition
The Carrick on Suir region of South Tipperary, North Waterford and South West Kilkenny is a wash with musical talent. This talent is to be savoured nightly in the pubs and hotels of the region throughout the year. To celebrate this, the Clancy Brothers Music Festival is inviting the local hostelries to put together a group of their regular musicians, storytellers and poets to present a selection of tunes, songs and stories to enter in the first Clancy Brothers Festival Irish Folk Traditions Talent Competition.
Entry forms are available from the Festival Office.
Entry costs €300.

receive 10 free tickets to the concert in The Strand Theatre on June 15th
The winning pub will get to hold the Clancy Brothers Festival Irish Folk Traditions Perpetual Trophy for one year and nominate a charity which will receive €1,000 from the competitions sponsors.
