Since 1988 New York City's queens of volume, the Lunachicks, have been plaguing the world with their powerful brand of punk, a touch of metal & a fistful of rock-n-roll. Spitting out their version of the world colored by outrageous spectacle and humor, the Lunachicks have garnered themselves an impressive worldwide following.

Formed just before their high school graduation Squid, Gina, Theo, and a friend from the neighborhood named Sindi, decided to start a band. What started from teenage kicks turned into

a serious lifestyle that's brought these unusual women all over the world touring in addition to recording five full length studio cd’s, a live album, countless singles, videos, compilation cd’s, film appearances, and a feature length home video including their own short film “Nowhere Fast.” The Lunachicks have shared the stage with many great bands such as The Ramones, Joan Jett, The Offspring, Marilyn Manson,Deborah Harry, No Doubt, The Buzzcocks, Rancid, NOFX and Lucious Jackson to name just a few.

The Lunachicks began making a name for themselves in NYC clubs like CBGB’s and The Limelight. After catching the interest of Kim and Thurston Moore, of the band Sonic Youth, the girls were brought to Sonic Youth’s then record label “Blast First.” The Lunachicks would go on to secure a permanent female drummer, ”Becky Wreck,” and record their first album ”Babysitters on Acid”. Armed with titles like ”Makin’ It With Other Species” and “Jan Brady” the band combined their ‘70’s television sit-com heroes, hatred for certain high school teachers, perverted love songs and set it all to music influenced by bands like The Ramones, Black Sabbath, Kiss, The Clash, and Alice Cooper.

Over the years the band has changed labels and had slight shifts in its’ line up. Since the departure of rhythm guitarist Sindi, in 1997, the Lunachicks have remained a four piece ensemble. Theo, Gina, Squid, and Chip, the drummer since 1994, have honed their talent and skills to impressive heights of mature sophistication without losing their satirical edge. The Lunachicks are constantly reinventing themselves with versatility and style. Always pushing the boundaries of the status quo, the band continues to inspire thousands of young women all over the world to follow in their footsteps. The original and unstoppable “bad girls gone worse” have definitely made an indelible mark in rock’n’roll history.
